The Chichester Heritage Commission is proud to announce that the
“Town House” which we all know as the Chichester Library building is
one of six buildings to be placed on the New Hampshire Register of
Historic Places this year. This designation is given to buildings of
historic significance to their town and the state. It involves a lot
of paperwork to prove the history of the building. Once achieved,
the designation makes it possible to qualify for grants to help with
the costs of preserving the building for future generations.
Chichester Grange is holding an apple pie fundraiser. For $10.00 you
can have a homemade apple pie at your Christmas dinner or party
without having any dirty rolling pins in your kitchen. Please send
order requests and payment (checks made out to Chichester Grange
#132) to Hannah West, 3 Depot Rd., Chichester, NH 03258 or Kevin
Belval/Mary West, 86 Broadway, Concord, NH 03301. Pies will be
ready for pick-up on Saturday, December 22 between 9 am and 12 pm at
the Grange/Town Hall.

Try and find this somewhere else; an autoharp over 60 years old! It
needs tuning, (don’t we all over 60!) but would be quite the gift
for someone special. We also have sweaters for $1.00 and up, but
mostly $1.00.
A friend was surprised that the big G store is charging $14.99 for
Christmas sweaters! We have a nice selection of women’s turtlenecks,
plenty of Christmas lights and a nice assortment of jewelry that
just came in. We also have a good selection of Christmas books,
both crafts and stories, at 2/25¢ and VCR tapes are still 2/25¢.
We are located on Route 28, Chichester and are open Mon. 8-12; Tues.
and Thurs. 8-4; Wed. 11-4; and Sat. 10-4. You can call us at
247-7191.
New Hampshire State Officials Request Rescue
Assistance From Live
And Let Live Farm
The arrival to Live and Let Live Farm Rescue with the help of 15
year old Samantha Turner and 13 year old Kimberlyn Turner who are in
charge of the record keeping and paperwork of the Littleton Rescue.
These are our young animal rescuers training today to carry on the
good work as young adult rescuers of tomorrow. To avoid the
complications of losing track of the horses and who’s who among 23
horses at our arrival in Littleton, we haltered all of the horses
who were to come with us, starting with the colts, and numbered them
to match up with their names and paperwork. The state Department of
Agriculture supplied Live and Let Live Farm Rescue with needed
supplies.
The New Hampshire Governor’s office, Littleton Police Dept. and the
State Department for Agricultural Animals has received numerous
complaints from the citizens of Littleton, NH regarding the neglect
of more than 20 horses, alpacas and llamas currently seen from the
road on Main Street in Littleton, NH. On Monday, November 19th, the
state officials called Teresa Paradis, Executive Director, from the
Live and Let Live Farm, a volunteer, non-profit 501(c)3
Rehabilitation Rescue and Sanctuary in Chichester, NH, to ask for
help in rescuing these animals.
According to witnesses, There were many emaciated horses, ranging in
age from 6 months to 20 years old, including stallions, mini-horses,
alpacas and llamas, who were clearly under-fed, standing in 8 inches
or more of muck and manure, with neglected hoof care, often with no
water nor adequate shelter, and often with no feed or hay regularly
provided to feed them all. Hooves were over-grown and not properly
cared for, horses have been seen stumbling and falling down when
trying to walk. Stallions may have been mixed with mares, so there
was a good chance wounds would need to be treated and some could be
pregnant.
When the call came in from the Department of Agriculture with the
town of Littleton officials, Paradis was devastated at the thought
of bringing up to 18 additional horses to the Live and Let Live
Farm, where there are already up to 50 horses, as well as, other
agricultural animals in rehabilitation. “The cost of hay, feed,
supplements and what appears to be extensive medical rehabilitation
care, dental and hoof care needed as well as the gelding surgery
expenses, will be in the thousands. It will be difficult, especially
going into the winter season when even more hay is needed to be fed
to help the animals keep warm and healthy. We will need all the help
we can get, but we cannot let these animals suffer any longer in
their current conditions,” said Paradis.
Today, a caravan of trailers will leave from Live and Let Live Farm
for Littleton, NH. With the help of the local officials and many
volunteers of Live and Let Live Farm, they will load up to 18
horses. They expect to return to the rescue in the early afternoon
to begin the long process of rehabilitation recovery.
Donations for the medical fund, feed and hay are
welcome and can be made at the rescue’s website by credit or debit
card or through the paypal account at:
www.liveandletlivefarm.org , or by mail to
Live and Let Live Farm Rescue, 20 Paradise Lane, Chichester, NH
03258.
