named to the President’s List with a Perfect 4.0 for the spring

The Chichester Historical Society would like to thank the town’s
people who donated items for their Yard Sale and the members who
worked on the sale. About six hundred dollars was raised for the
Acquisition Fund. Items which did not sell on May 7th have been
donated to the Old Home Day Committee for their Yard Sale on August
20.
The Chichester Food Pantry would like to thank
everyone who donated to, helped with, or participated in the Pig
Roast.
May is Preservation Month. The Chichester
Heritage Commission has placed yellow signs, which say “This Place
Matters,” on various public and private buildings around town to
point out their historical significance. The signs will remain in
place for the remainder of this month. If your historic building
does not have one, you may request one from Lucille Noel.
The Heritage Commission will hold a public meeting on Thursday, May
19th, at 7 p.m. in the Chichester Town Library. Walter Sanborn will
speak about the Library building, which was once the Town Hall. The
Heritage Commission has selected this building as the next candidate
for placement on the New Hampshire State Registry of Historic
Places, and members will begin on the paperwork soon. Anyone with an
interest in historic places in Chichester is welcome to attend the
meeting.
Don’t forget the CYA Car Wash on Sunday, May
22nd, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Fire Station. The kids and
coaches will be happy to clean your cars, and your donation will
support athletic programs for the children and youth of Chichester.
Happy Birthday to Tracie Davison on May 24th.
The Family of Eugene and Dawn Ladd would like to cordially invite
you to an Open House on May 28, 2011, to celebrate the 50th Wedding
Anniversary of Eugene and Dawn. It will begin at 11:30 a.m. at their

Abigail Sanborn, will be the historical veteran featured this year.
All are invited to attend.
It is not too early to

Day, August 20th. Contact Jaan Luikmil at 545-9087.
The Chichester Library Meeting Room Committee is looking for
interested citizens willing to host a neighborhood meeting in their
home so that a Library Trustee or Committee Member can come to talk
about plans to create a meeting room in the basement of the Library.
The room could be used for Library meetings and also for small
public gatherings. If you could help by hosting a meeting, contact
Lisa at the Library.
Please remember the Plant a Row
project. As you are planting your garden, put in an extra row of
something. Then at harvest time donate the crop in that row to the

The Attic Thrift Shop News Submitted By Carol Hendee
Mark your calendars for a big day for the Attic. Saturday, May 21st
from 9-3, there will be a sale (outdoors we hope, if not, indoors)
of furniture items from the Laconia shop and storage. There
will be bureaus, a couch, bookcases, end tables, headboards and
assorted household items.
So hope the weather is good for
us and come see us. Those purchasing the bigger items will need a
pickup to bring it home. You never know what you’ll find at
this sale. Nora Roberts books and unusual lamps are among the
treasures.
Other stores in the building will be having an Open
House. Mark the date and come to 345 Suncook Valley Hwy,
Chichester. Special yard sale time of 9:00! Call
247-7191 if you have any questions. We are now open every
Friday 10-4, staffed by our wonderful volunteers from the Laconia
store!
Chichester Town Library News
The Chichester Town Library is going
to host a group discussion. This is something we’ve never done
before and we hope you will join us. The topic of
discussion is Free Will vs. Determinism. What do you think?
Does man have free will? Kierkegaard said, “Life must be
lived forward, but can only be understood backwards.” Do you have
any thoughts on how this might relate to free will? Let’s get
together and talk about it; all opinions are welcome. We hope
you will start thinking about this topic and join us at the library
on Tuesday, May 24th from 7:00 to 8:30.
The moderator will be
Chichester resident Jimmy Pappas, who taught philosophy at the high
school level for many years. This event is free and open to the
public. Refreshments will be served. Please call 798-5613 or
798-3410 if you have any questions and to sign up.
