Chichester Town Library Summer Reading Program

The Chichester Town Library’s summer reading program, Make a Splash, Read is about to begin.

Please drop in to sign up and start logging your hours because we have a very exciting program planned.

Once again, we are requiring students in town to collectively read 5000 hours this summer. If we meet that goal, Officer Daniel York will take a pie in the face. Whoever reads the most hours will throw the pie, or choose someone to throw the pie. Rumor has it that Officer York wants it to be a Chocolate Cream Pie.

The first event will be at The Woods At Beauty Hill in Barnstead on Thursday June 24th at 6:30. Wildlife Encounter Zoo will introduce us to 7 animals from around the globe. Come early (5:30) to play the I SPY game. Lisa has 18 objects hidden at each hole of the disc golf course.

Plan on dropping in each week to work on a science experiment. Local resident, Dylan Dupont, will be setting up a new experiment each week.

We have also planned a Wacky Science Experiment Night in July and a Teddy Bear Picnic for younger children in August.

Come in for more details. Our hours are Mon. and Wed., 2:30-8:30, Tues. and Thurs., 10-1:30, Fri. 1:30-4:30, Sat. 9-12.

1st Annual Spring Fair

You are invited to Loudon Food Pantry on Saturday,  June 19th from 9:00 AM-6:00 PM at 30 Chichester Rd., Loudon, NH for first annual Spring Fair.

Come on down to learn more about the pantry, check out the various events and demonstrations, as well as participate in judging the grand prize in the baking contest.  Attendance is free and no tickets are required, so bring the whole family!

Or maybe you have items that you’d like to sell?  You can rent a space and sell your yard sale items, homemade crafts and/or baked goods! Just fill out the registration form and enclose the fee. Make sure to get it in early because space is limited.

If you’re a baker, then perhaps the baking contest will tickle your fancy. There are several categories to choose from and you can enter one item for each category. This gives you four chances to win the grand prize (to be announced) for only $25. The categories will be judged by our panel of judges, but the grand prize will be judged by the crowd.

We’ll also have a table for our Recycling Fundraiser.  We are collecting Cell Phones, Laptop Computers, MP3 Players, Digital Cameras, Inkjet Cartridges, Jewelry (Gold, Silver, and Platinum), Notebooks, Video Cameras, Handheld Game Systems, GPS Devices, Radar Detectors and Electronic Book Readers for recycling.  So bring any of the above mentioned items and drop them off.  You’ll be helping the environment and get a small tax write-off as well.

We hope to see you there!

The Cub Scouts of Pack 85 in Chichester were honored to participate in the Chichester Grange Memorial Day ceremony on Sunday, May 28th. Everyone enjoyed patriotic songs, poems, and a historical perspective of a Chichester Civil War veteran presented by Jim Towle of the Historical Society. The Cub Scouts led the Pledge of Allegiance and placed a wreath at the Veteran’s Memorial at the Town Hall. The Cubs also visited the cemeteries throughout Chichester and decorated the graves of all veterans with American flags. This was a wonderful opportunity to teach our children about the meaning of Memorial Day.
