Letter
To the
voters of Barnstead,
My name is
Susan Conrad and I am running for a three-year term on the Barnstead
Budget Committee. I have lived in Barnstead since 1977, having moved
from Pittsfield.
My reason
for seeking this position is to get involved again in the Town of
Barnstead. I have served on several committees in town, including the
Safety Committee, Board of Adjustment, and other varied volunteer
positions.
I retired
as Library Director 2 years ago after 29 years of employment. I was
thrilled to be able to complete my three main objectives: increasing the
number of employees, bringing the library into the technological age and
to triple the size of the building.
During my
tenure as Library Director I attended almost every Town Budget Hearing.
I have tremendous respect for all those who volunteer their time to help
Barnstead continue to be a great place to live. I am willing to learn
whatever I need to know in order to be an effective active member of the
Budget Committee.
I now have
time to become involved with the Town again and feel that I could be an
asset to the Budget Committee. My experience in the budgetary process
is 29 years of never exceeding the Barnstead Library’s operating
budget. I was also an intregal part of the building expansion in 2000
and I am very pleased to say that we came in under budget and under
time.
This is not
a politically driven election for me. You have two other people who are
currently on the Board and are running for re-election. Both Ms. Carr
and Mr. Gray are qualified to serve on the committee and have shown
their dedication to the town by running.
I ask for
your vote, but most importantly I ask that you DO vote.
Thank you.
Susan
Conrad

Thank You
Since it
has been my lot to find, at every parting of the road, the helping hand
of comrade kind to help me with my heavy load, And since I have no gold
to give and love alone must make amends, my humble prayer is, while I
live -- God, make me worthy of my friends.
Thank you
for your prayers and support through this difficult time. A very special
thank you to Bob Strickland, Steve’s best friend, the best friend anyone
could ever have.
