Don’t forget the American Red Cross Blood Drive being held on Thursday, June 30th, at the Pittsfield Elementary School from 1:00 to 6:00 pm at 34 Bow Street.  Childcare provided.  Each presenting donor will receive an incentive coupon from Panera Bread, participating Walgreens and the M/S Mount Washington Cruise Line.  Be part of something amazing - give the gift of life.

Very Successful Benefit Breakfast

Officer Grow is pictured here with the volunteers who presented the breakfast:  Brian Tedcastle, Eileen Murley, Andy Houle, Paula Vardaro, Michael Kowalski, Dave Murley, Bill Evans, Bob LaRoche, Nancy Carr, and Tim Eade.  Gordon Preston was an attendee at the breakfast.   Not pictured are April Ellis and Joanne Locke.   Also not pictured are Judy, Dan, Emily, Megan and Maddie Chase, who purposely came to the breakfast close to the end of the serving time so they could stay to help with the clean-up.

The Benefit Breakfast for Barnstead Police Officer Frank Grow that was held on Saturday, June 18, 2011 at the Barnstead Parade Fire Station was a huge success. There was a steady flow of attendees from the time the doors opened.  In total, 175 people attended the breakfast.

Barnstead Old Home Day

Old Home Day event plans are coming along nicely.  We did have one bump in the road.  Or, should we say in the river.  The canoe/kayak race has capsized for this year.  Due to foreseen and unforeseen circumstances, we have had to cancel the canoe/kayak race.  Do not despair though.  There are still plenty of activities planned for all ages. Just to whet your appetite about some of the ‘goings on,’ you can start the day with a 5K road race and pancake breakfast and end the day with a concert by ‘Decades’ and fireworks by American Thunder.  You noticed there is some time in between those four events?  Well, stay tuned for future articles about some of the other day’s activities.

In the meantime, if you are disappointed about the canoe/kayak race being cancelled and you have a hankering to get out there and win a race, there is still time to register for the 5K road race.  You can register on line at www.runreg.com or email Colleen at [email protected] or call at 603-269-0136.  And, if those ways weren’t enough, you also have the option to get a copy of the race brochure at www.barnstead.org/aboutbarnstead/oldhomeday/ohdtext.html  or pick one up at the Barnstead Town Hall.  So, put on your running/walking shoes and we’ll see YOU at the races.
