Experiencing God
Have you ever wondered what the will of God is?
Want to know how to live the full adventure of knowing and doing the
will of God? Consider joining the small group Bible study at the Center
Barnstead Christian Church on Experiencing God. Written by Henry
Blackaby and Claude King, this study has profoundly changed the lives of
Christians around the world who seek a more intimate relationship with
their Creator. Experiencing God reveals seven ways of relating to God:
knowing, loving, hearing, joining, believing, obeying, and experiencing.
You will be challenged to experience the fullness of a life lived in a
fellowship with the loving, personal God. This study will meet every
Sunday at 4:30 PM at the home of Forrest and Jackie Young. For more
information, please call the church at 269-8831. The Center Barnstead
Christian Church is located on Route 126, next to the Town Hall.
Letter
Dear Citizens of Barnstead and Alton,
In anticipation of the
September 18th school district meeting in Barnstead and the November 2nd
ballot vote in Alton, the Prospect Mountain Teachers Association would
like to add to the discussion that has recently been reported in the
newspapers or discussed in editorial letters.
When the teachers’
association entered negotiations with the school board, we were fully
aware of the economic difficulty many of our community members were and
are currently facing, which is why the financial impact of this contract
was kept to a minimum level. The proposed contract will cost $0.09 per
thousand for the citizens of Alton and $0.27 per thousand for the
members of the Barnstead Community.
The provisions of the
Evergreen law allow for a teacher to move a step that corresponds with
his/her years of experience on the salary schedule in the event that a
collective bargaining agreement expires. Currently, 47% of Prospect
Mountain teachers are ineligible for this step increase because they
have reached the highest level, therefore they will not see an increase
in salary. Within two years, 60% of the faculty will be at the highest
level and, consequently, will not receive a pay raise unless a new
contract is negotiated. Therefore, the argument that teachers would not
negotiate because they are guaranteed salary increases every year is
false.
We have received many encouraging messages from our community
members showing their appreciation and support for our school and we
would like to thank you for your continued confidence in the Prospect
Mountain High School community.
We ask all parents and members of our
community to exercise their civic duty and participate in this voting
process. It is imperative that your voice be heard and your vote be
counted.
Respectfully,
Prospect Mountain Teachers’ Association
Barnstead-Alton Republican Committee Schedules Next Meeting
Fresh
from the spirited New Hampshire Primary campaigns which culminated with
the September 14 Primary Election, the Barnstead-Alton Republican
Committee (BARC) will hold their next meeting on Tuesday, September 28
at J.J. Goodwin’s Restaurant (upstairs), 769 Suncook Valley Rd. (Rt.
28), Center Barnstead - (603) 269-8300. We will introduce our local
primary winners, and although all the details have not yet been
finalized, we hope to have at least one of our state-wide primary
election winners as our guest speaker. Further details will be posted on
the BARC website, www.BARC-NewHampshire.com.
We will also share our plans with you
for the time period between now and the November 2 election. There’s
still a lot of work to do to make the November election a success for
the Republican Party.
As many of you may already know, BARC meetings
are fairly informal and you don’t even have to be a member to attend;
all Republican and Independent/Unaffiliated voters are welcome to
drop-in. And, once again, BARC will be conducting a 50/50 raffle that
provides a great chance to walk away with a small fortune.
For more
information, see the BARC website at
