2010 Artist Showcase Barnstead Library

Continuing with a yearlong 2010 Artist Showcase, the Oscar Foss Memorial Library in Center Barnstead presents the artwork of local New Hampshire artists. We are currently featuring Acrylic Painting - Themes in Nature by Patricia A. Davis of Pembroke through April. Pat’s acrylics in this exhibit show traditional landscapes and “space scapes” of the cosmos.

Pat will be followed by Suzanne Tasker of East Concord with watercolors in September, Dick Pratt and Frank Curatolo of Chichester with oils and acrylics in October, and Judy Doughty of Nottingham, wrapping up the showcase, with pastels and watercolors in November.

The display resides in the main section of the library and features different artwork each month. Please come by to view the artwork, sign the guest book, and vote for your favorites. For more information, please call the library at 269-3900.

New Young Adult Section At Barnstead Library

New at the Oscar Foss Memorial Library in Center Barnstead is a Young Adult Fiction area, part of the juvenile section of the library that has been created to contain fiction for Grades 7 and up, ages 12 and up. We’ve gathered in this section recently purchased books as well as existing selections that fall into the Young Adult (YA) category.

Young Adult books are written for middle and high school ages and up. We do not consider reading level as criteria for inclusion into the YA category. It is based solely on content. Using the ALA recommended grade levels (Booklist), along with other book reviewers, such as School Library Journal and Publishers Weekly, we’ve assigned the YA designation. Inside each book is a label with the YA designation Grades 7 and up, Grades 8 and up, or Grades 9 and up. Older teens will be able to find Young Adult selections easily, so please stop by for some great reading!

For more information, please call the library at 269-3900.
