Chili/Chowder Cook Off
On
Sunday, March 27th at the Barnstead Elementary School Pack 43 Cub Scouts
will be hosting a Chili/Chowder Cook Off.
Festivities will begin at 1:30 p.m., registration begins at 1 p.m. The
entry fee will cost $5.00. Bring your own crock pot and serving spoon
and the scouts will provide all paper goods. No pre-registration
required. Extension cords are appreciated but not required. Anyone can
enter and the Golden Spoon will be awarded to “Barnstead’s Best Chili”
and “Barnstead’s Best Chowder.”
If you
are not up to cooking come down and be the judge. There is a $2 per
person admission fee and the scouts will be selling Bottled Water and
Corn Bread and Baked Goodies.
Come
and sing, dance and play with Miss Kim! Miss Kim’s Music Makers is now
accepting registrations for a 4 week children’s music class, DANCE WITH
ME, in Pittsfield from April 10-May 1, 2010, from 11:00 a.m.-noon on
Saturday mornings. Classes will be held at the Pittsfield Youth Workshop
on Park St. Cost for the 4 weeks is $34.00. Please call 822-2694 or

to register your child by April 3. Class size is limited to 10 children,
so register early to secure a spot.
Congratulations to Lexie Phillips of Barnstead for making the Dean’s
List at Champlain College in Vermont, her first semester.
Lexie
is the daughter of Donna Fan and Michael Phillips and grand-daughter of
Kathy and Gordon Preston.
There
will be a memorial Service for Mary M. Thorne at the Center Barnstead
Congregational Church, Parade Rd., Barnstead, at 10:00 a.m. on April
17th. Mary passed away on Jan 30th. All friends and family are welcome
to come celebrate the life of this wonderful lady. A small luncheon will
follow at a location to be announced.

Carl Stohlberg To Participate In People To People Leadership
Forum In June
Carl
Stohlberg, a student at the Center Barnstead Elementary School, has been
selected to participate in a People to People Leadership Forum from June
21-26, 2010. His acceptance was based on outstanding scholastic
merit, civic involvement, and leadership potential.
His
civic involvement in the community includes being active in the
Congregational Church of North Barnstead, in the church’s youth group,
summer camp as well as helping out in activities throughout the year.
In addition, he has played on the Barnstead Elementary School champion
soccer team at the school.
The
People to People Leadership Forum involves travel to such places as:
Capitol Hill, the Smithsonian Institution, visiting historic Gettysburg,
the Arlington National Cemetery, Williamsburg, meeting members of
Congress and touring Washington D.C. to visit many of the national
monuments such as the Washington Monument, the Lincoln Monument and the
Vietnam Veteran’s Memorial.
Carl is
actively selling his “Carl’s Candy” and New England Bed Warmers to raise
the money he will need to travel and take part in this Forum. The candy
is made with fudge that he makes in his home kitchen, and is yummy.
