Plant Sale at the church on June 6, 2009, from 9 to 11 a.m. Come pick
out your favorite plants to add to your gardens and check out the

Local Student’s Writing Published In Spectrum
Ian
Dudley of Barnstead, a junior, majoring in Art and Writing/Rhetoric is
among 19 students who have had their writing published in Northwestern
College’s creative writing magazine, Spectrum. The annual publication,
sponsored by the English Department, includes poetry, fiction and
literary nonfiction selected by a panel of students and faculty.
His
entries included: “How I Saw My Family When I Was Shaving This Morning,”
poetry; “A Clock of Flesh,” poetry; “Sunset,” poetry.
Author
Jared Belden, a 2003 alumnus of Northwestern College and English as a
second language teacher at Des Moines Area Community College, served as
judge for the student submissions.
Northwestern College is a Christian college of more than 1,200 students
in Orange City, Iowa. Rated a top-5 Midwestern baccalaureate college by
U.S. News & World Report magazine, Northwestern provides an education
that combines academic rigor with a faith perspective.
Community Potluck/Movie Night
A
Community Pot Luck Movie Night will be held Saturday, May 30th from 5 -7
p.m. at the Town Hall Center Barnstead on Rte 126.
Come
join your friends and neighbors as we build community.
The
film, The End of Suburbia is a commentary on the importance of
establishing a local economy.
We will
also explore The Let System - A Local Exchange Trading System developed
by Michael Linton of British Columbia, Canada.

Our Community Barter Board is
ready to use, located on the porch of the Barnstead Town Hall. Posting
directions are on site. Post half page only please, offering any product
or service in trade (no money exchanged).
We are also initiating a
farmer‘s market this year on Route 28. The location has been chosen and
we are in the final negotiation mode. Look for signs! We plan to begin
the last Friday in June and the market will run every Friday from 4 p.m.
– 7 p.m.

Word Of
Life - Family Camp Center Barnstead Christian Church
Word of Life -
Family Camp Center Barnstead Christian Church will once again be headed
to Word of Life Family Camp in Schroon Lake, New York. A number of
parents with children, as well as, grandparents with grandchildren will
enjoy a full week of fun and fellowship in the beautiful Adirondack
Mountains region of New York.
Some families will camp in tents;
others will be staying in cabins for the week of July 4 through July 11,
2009. While there all the adults will have an opportunity to be immersed
in God’s Word through the teachings of Dr. Wendell Calder, Dr. Hayes
Wicker, Steve Ortner (Moody Science) and the musical ministry of Steve
and Penny Lacey. There will also be Bible programs geared for children
and young adults from nursery age to the teen program. Throughout the
week there are many activities that families will be able to enjoy as a
group and individually to include: water skiing, camp fires, fishing,
swimming, tennis, golf, horseback riding, bicycle riding, hiking, a
rodeo, fireworks, whitewater rafting and the Schroon Lake New York
Independence Day Parade just to name a few. If you would like to learn

Night Hawk
Seniors
The Night Hawk Seniors are having a meeting in June. Come
join us for a luncheon and an afternoon of Bingo. We will be making
plans for our annual picnic at Locke Lake. All you have to do is
bring a casserole or dessert and your own place setting. Members, try
