World Day Of Prayer 2009

Women, men and children in more than 170 countries and regions will celebrate World Day of Prayer, Friday, March 6. The women of Papua New Guinea have written the World Day of Prayer 2009 service around the theme, “In Christ, There Are Many Members, Yet One Body.” They welcome us to Papua New Guinea, a land of many languages, cultures, traditions and beliefs. Though many of its communities experience isolation due to rugged terrain, there is unity in diversity, The women say, “By God’s grace we are able to be united.” They invite us to join them in celebrating their unity in Christ, where diverse communities are of one heart and soul, and where women have faced the violence in their societies with courage and solidarity.

The service will be held on Friday, March 6, 2009, at 7:00 p.m. at the Barnstead Parade Congregational Church in Barnstead.

Invite your friends and family to join us in prayer and song to support women’s ecumenical ministries toward  justice, peace, healing and wholeness.

Ladies’ Ministry @ CBCC

Secret Sister, Sister Circle, Ladies’ Ministry, Girl’s Night Out, or Sister Chicks....it has several names and several purposes. One is for fellowship. We, as females, need to talk a lot sometimes and this definitely meets that need. Another need is for guidance. We have the capacity to know the truth through God’s Word, and we share it one with another, building one another up and encouraging one another through some of life’s difficult circumstances. There are lots of exciting things happening at Center Barnstead Christian Church...one of which is the Ladies’ Ministries. February 27-28 we had a Ladies’ Retreat with featured speaker, Carol Kent who shared her testimony on the murder that her son committed, and the struggles and trials in her life. The subject “When I lay my Isaac down” suggests things in our lives that we must lay down. A fun time was planned and many activities were included for this special time just for ladies. We met at the parsonage and had 24 hours of ‘girl time’ where we studied, played games, and were just together.

Coming up in April we will participate in a “Ladies’ Day Apart” in Derry, NH, where the same speaker will be present, Carol Kent.

We are excited to be a part of this annual activity where we can meet many other ladies in our area and share our lives. We, also, have a Secret Sister program in our church, in which any lady who is interested secretly picks another lady and randomly gives her gifts to encourage her and show love and concern for her. We have several ‘younger’ ladies who have difficulty keeping secrets  (as in the 4-13 year age range) who have been adopted by real grandmothers in our church, and they are called secret grandmothers and secret granddaughters. It is such a treat to watch each young lady run into the assigned room and look eagerly for the gift that my be awaiting her! Another fun activity we have with our ladies is every month on the second Monday is a special time just for ladies. It begins at 7PM and usually runs for 2 hours. We have different ladies assigned for each month, so the activities vary according to the lady in charge. We currently hold two Ladies’ Bible Studies featuring Proverbs, held on Thursday afternoon and Thursday evening to try and accommodate any and all ladies who would like to attend. We have a special bond, a special purpose and truly enjoy getting together to share with one another and help one another through different times in each others’ lives. We would welcome any and all who are interested to be a part of our Ladies’ Ministry. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the church at 269-8831, and we would be more than happy to give information regarding our events.

She was a wonderful mother, daughter, and grandmother.

Karrie spent her life being a strong and independent person. She raised three great children on her own. Karrie enjoyed watching her grandchildren play and laugh.

She was and still is the best mom anyone could have asked for. Karrie was loved by many and will be very much missed. She fought a tough battle but she did not win. God had bigger plans for her. We love you mom and grandma you are in a better place and someday we will all be together again playing and laughing  like we always did.
