Letter To The Editor
Editor:
The U. S. Senate on Oct. 1st, passed a bill which was
intended to improve the financial crisis which has been
brewing for many months. What was originally a three
page bill proposed by Bush and Sec. of Treasury Paulson
became a 451 page bill with $1.7 billion of non related
issues.
This is how Washington works,” said Keith Ashdown of
Taxpayers for Common Sense, a Washington research group.
“A big pot of pork is their recipe for final passage.”
What was once a revered, deliberative body has now
become a self-serving, corrupt group of politicians
unworthy of being a U. S. Senator. I do not see any
salvation for them. They must be voted out of office!
The pending question is, “What will the U. S. House of
Representatives do with this rotten piece of
legislation?” I hope they will not go into the same
cesspool created by their Senate colleagues.

Gary & Wendy McGinn At Center Barnstead Church
The Center Barnstead Christian Church continues its
Fall
Missions Emphasis Month this weekend. Our theme is “The
Acts 1:8 Challenge - Empowering the church to be on
Mission .” On Saturday, October 11th we will be having a
Men’s Breakfast at 7:30 AM. All men are welcomed to come
to the church and enjoy a free breakfast. This will be a
great time of food and fellowship, as we hear from our
speaker, Gary McGinn.
Gary and Wendy McGinn live in New York and work as
resident counselors at a family counseling center. Gary
and Wendy met in 1971 and married in 72. Both of them
were unsaved at the time. Two years later their marriage
was failing. Wendy was led to the Lord by a friend who
had been saved just a few years earlier and began going
to a Bible study taught by a man named M.A. Butler. Gary
was saved five years later. God changed their lives and
restored their marriage. They went through some
difficult years trying to have children, but God’s plan
was perfect and He opened the door for them to adopt two
wonderful children.
Their ministry started back when they met M.A and Kay
Butler. They did not know what God was doing then, but
M.A. loved to share Jesus Christ with everyone. He
started three churches in their area and were able to go
along with this family as support. Soon after, they
moved to Word of Life Australia to run the camp and
Bible Institute there. Two years later Gary and Wendy
followed and lived in Australia for the purpose of Gary
going to the Bible Institute. When they returned to the
States, they were part of a small group that started
Family Outreach Ministries. They met every Sunday night
and prayed for Christians who were struggling and
offered assistance. Out of this ministry in a little
town about an hour away we started a Bible Study, which
their church grew out of!! Their dream for Family
Outreach Ministries was always to have a place where
people could come to spend time in God’s Word and be
taught. A few years after their Church began, a
wonderful piece of property just up the road came up for
sale. The Lord provided, and after thirty five years in
Schroon Lake and raising two children, here they are.
They praise God alone and depend on Him fully for it
all.
Come and hear more about this ministry, and its future
goals both during our Sunday School hour which begins at
9:30 AM and during our Morning Worship time beginning at
10:30 AM. For more information please contact the church
at 269-8831. The Center Barnstead Church is located on
Route 126, next to the Town Hall.
