Greater Pittsfield Chamber Of Commerce

Submitted By Michele Beauregard
The Greater Pittsfield Chamber of Commerce was excited to hold yet another successful Business After Hours. The event was hosted by the Ring Family; Harry, Ellis and Sandi; and sponsored by Lake Shore Farm located on 275 Jenness Pond Road in Northwood. All Chamber Members were provided a wonderful and comforting setting to network their businesses.

When we arrived, we were located in the barn that can be used as a function room for corporate outings or even for weddings. It was huge and such a great place to have the Business After Hours event! I have even done a little square dancing there myself which it was the perfect setting with plenty of room to move around in!

A tour of Lake Shore Farm was given by Sandi. We were able to see all the beauty that Lake Shore Farm has to offer their guests. This is a quiet Country Inn that has been opening their doors to families and companies since 1926. The house feels like home and is very welcoming to anyone who comes to visit!

The food is also another wonderful thing! I have experienced it first hand and if you are looking for a home cooked meal, this is definitely the place to go to eat! Everything is even served as if you are at home in beautiful dishes so you can take the portion that works for you with the food that you like!

After our tour of the facility we all sat down and enjoyed a Yankee swap. This was a lot of fun!!! Everyone walked away with a great gift, but it was enjoyable watching everyone open his/her gift and hide it from others so as not to get it stolen!!!

The Members who attended were able to interact with one another and had the opportunity to learn about the individual businesses and the services they offer. Everyone had a wonderful time! There were at least 30 people at this event which was wonderful to see! To learn more about this event and others, you can visit The Greater Pittsfield Chamber of Commerce web site at www.pittsfieldchamber.org.

We would like to send out a special Thank You to Lake Shore Farm! We appreciate your offering the space within your wonderful and welcoming Country Inn to allow us to network! If you have not been to Lake Shore Farm, you need to!! It is a great place to get away and enjoy time with the family!!! Give them a call at (603)942-5921 or visit them on the web at: www.lakeshorefarminn.com!

2010 Relay for Life Wolfeboro Kickoff Party

Have you vowed to make 2010 the year to make a difference? Well now you have your chance to follow through on your resolution and participate in the American Cancer Society’s 2010 Relay For Life Wolfeboro.

The American Cancer Society is looking for anyone who wants to honor cancer survivors (anyone who has ever been diagnosed with cancer) and caregivers, or pay tribute to those who have lost their battle with cancer to join its Relay For Life Wolfeboro, starting at 2 p.m., June 26, 2010, at the Nick Recreational Park, Rte. 28 Wolfeboro.

To get things started, The Relay For Life kickoff rally will be held at 7 p.m., Tuesday, January 19 at the Windrifter Resort 337 South Main Street, Wolfeboro. All interested participants, families, caregivers, companies, schools, etc. are invited to the kick off rally to get involved, sign up for activities, and educate themselves about one of the American Cancer Society’s biggest fund-raisers.

For those unfamiliar with Relay For Life, it is an overnight community effort where individuals and teams camp out, have fun and take turns walking around a track relay style to raise funds to fight cancer. As day turns to night, participants will light hundreds of luminaria around the track in an inspiring ceremony to honor cancer survivors as well as friends and family members who have died from the disease. Relay For Life represents hope that those lost to cancer will never be forgotten, that those who face cancer will be supported, and that one day cancer will be eliminated. This year vow to remember three things:

Celebrate the lives of those who have battled cancer. The strength of survivors inspires others to continue to fight. Remember loved ones lost to the disease.

At Relay, people who have walked alongside those battling cancer can grieve and find healing. Fight Back. We Relay because we have been touched by cancer and desperately want to put an end to the disease. Make a commitment to save lives by taking up the fight!

Relay For Life Wolfeboro participant area is all of Carroll County, the Lakes Region and Barnstead, Pittsfield area, and will take place June 26 and 27, 2 p.m. to 8 a.m. at the Nick Recreational Park, Wolfeboro. For More information call 1-800-ACS-2345,Gina Lessard-544-2492 or visit: www.RelayForLife.org/wolfeboronh.

“Neither rain, nor sleet, nor gloom of night,” and we might add “nor cold, nor snow,” can stop Dan Schroth and crew from working on the stonewall at Pittsfield Youth Athletic Park. Pictured from left to right are Dan, Clinton Brewster, James Schroth, and Jeffrey Ames. Missing from the picture is Ryan Chase. They have been hauling rock to the wall and rebuilding it throughout the fall and this winter. Thanks guys, for your great help.

Letter To The Editor

To The Good Citizens Of Pittsfield:
Just got back from a Planning Board meeting. Jim Pritchard presented his petitions for a Public Hearing, Home Occupation Amendment and a New Road Frontage Definition.

He got hammered by the public and the Board. Politics sometimes is not very friendly. I voted with the majority of the Board not to recommend these new rules.

Some members, including myself, felt that having entered into an agreement with the Central NH Regional Planning Commission with approval from the Selectmen, the Planning Board would spend the next year rewriting Pittsfield’s Zoning. The work would start March 29 and finish with a town vote March 2011.

I heard on the radio the other day A man’s reach should exceed his grasp. However, Jim Pritchard’s proposals are trying to tie our hands.

Consider voting NO in 2010 and YES in 2011. Let’s not throw away any more freedom.

And now some entertainment:
“When the sun rises I go to work
When the sun goes down I take my rest
I dig the well from which I drink
I farm the soil that yields my food
I share creation, kings can do no more.”
Ancient Chinese
2500 B.C.
