Greater Pittsfield Chamber of Commerce Holds Business After Hours
The Greater Pittsfield Chamber of Commerce was
excited to hold yet another successful Business After Hours. The
event was sponsored by Village Pizza on Monday, March 16 from
7pm to 9pm.
They opened their doors to all of the Chamber Members and provided a
great atmosphere for businesses to interact with one another.
The owner of Village Pizza,
Mike
Suliman,
gave us a tour of the facility. We were able to see how they make
their pizza dough which is hand made every morning prior to the
opening of the business day. He showed us how he rolls the dough out
through the machine and places it within the pizza pan stretching it
out to make the crust. We were even given the secret recipe for the
dough from his daughter!
After the tour of the facilities,
Mike asked us
what type of pizza we would like to eat. Once the orders were in,
Mike and his wife
set hard at work to entertain their guests. We were served several
different delicious types of pizza. There were cheese pizzas, a
vegetarian pizza and even a pizza with
alfredo sauce
and some meats. All of them were excellent!! There were also drinks
available as well.
The turn out for this event was 15 to 20 Members.
Each Member was able to interact with one another and had the
opportunity to learn about the individual businesses and the
services they offer. Everyone had a wonderful time! You can view the
pictures of this event on The Greater Pittsfield Chamber of Commerce
web site at
www.pittsfieldchamber.org,
We would like to send out a special Thank You to Village Pizza for
offering the space for such a fantastic event. Thanks for giving us
the opportunity to try the delicious foods provided by Village Pizza
as well as providing the space to network our businesses!! For
anyone who has not tried their pizza, you really are missing a great
thing!!.
Letter
This is a request to anyone in and around the Pittsfield
area. There are several people who have been knitting all winter
long for the very worthwhile charity “Guideposts/Knits for Kids”.
They provide sweaters for children in need in NH and throughout the
country. These dedicated knitters have provided more than 100
sweaters this winter and are in need of donations of yarn that you
may have just stored in your basement or garage. If you do have a
stash of yarn that is just sitting around collecting dust, please
think about donating it to this project. No donation is too small or
too large. We have many people who are on fixed incomes who are more
than happy to knit if we can provide the yarn.
Please contact
Diane
Vaughan at
435-5207 or
Deanna
Gordan
at 496-0063
if you have any yarn to give away. God Bless and thank you for any
help you can provide.
Thank you,
Diane

PHS Class of 1984
25th
Reunion
The PHS Class of 1984 - it’s time for our 25th class
reunion. We are shooting for a reunion date of August 15th (but
nothing is concrete yet!) A committee meeting was held and a variety
of ideas were proposed. We’d like some input from our classmates on
which direction to proceed. The ideas ranged from (1) a Pig
Roast/outdoor event, (2) dinner and music/dancing at a local
restaurant or (3) a bus to
Boston
(possibly Medeival Manor)...or let us know some other suggestions.
Please take a moment and give us your feedback. Please contact one
of the committee members and let us know which of the options you
would most likely attend...or number them.
You may email Andi (Grainger) Riel at
[email protected], Terry (Lopez) Riel

Letter To The Editor
Dear Editor,
During the week of WinterFest the town of
Pittsfield
sponsors a wonderful dinner for the Senior Citizens of our town and
surrounding communities. Each year the members of 4-H
gather and volunteer to serve as our waiters and waitresses
for the Winter Fest luncheon under the supervision of Corrine Miller
and her team leaders. These 4-Her’s, ranging in age from seven
to 18 were bubbly, polite, efficient and just pleasant to be around.
The mature members of our community thoroughly enjoy them. To
top it off, they cleaned up the kitchen until it shown. I
thought it would be nice to publicly acknowledge their kindness as
deed well done. The
Pittsfield
Area
Senior
Center
extends a warm and grateful thank you to each and every 4-H member
who was able to serve that day.
Sincerely,
The
Pittsfield

With Appreciation to
Ed
Canfield:
41 Years of Service To The Town And Fire Department
The Officers and members of the Pittsfield Fire Department and
Rescue Service would like to extend our sincere appreciation to
Ed
Canfield
for 41 years of service to the Town of
Pittsfield
and to the Fire Department.
Ed
joined the department on September 28,
1968, and served as a volunteer
firefighter.
Ed’s interest in Wildland
firefighting and management led to his appointment as a Deputy
Forest Fire Warden, a title he has held since 1978. For the
past 31 years, Ed
has assisted with the protection of public and private forested land
within the Town of Pittsfield
and at mutual aid responses to neighboring communities.
After 41 years in the fire service,
Ed has retired
from these responsibilities. We would like to thank Ed for his
commitment and dedication to the department and the community.
Volunteer Open House!
The first Volunteer Open House, held on Sat, March 21st was a great
success. There were 26 organizations represented. The displays
were awesome - each group had posters or display boards depicting
events or projects they have done or pamphlets and handouts
explaining the same. There were door prizes, raffles, a bake sale
and a kid friendly “Plant a Sunflower” project. We even were the
audience to an impromptu performance from
Victoria
Duquette,
PMHS Poetry Out Loud Champion.
We received many positive comments about the event - mainly that it
is just amazing that there are so many organizations and volunteers
in our community and it was great to have some of them all in one
place! There truly is something for everyone.
The following organizations were represented at the Open House:
Animal Allies, Beautification Committee, Boosters Club, Boy Scouts
Troop #84, Chamber of Commerce, Circle of Home & Family, Clothes
Closet, Friends of Josiah Carpenter Library, Girl Scouts, Historical
Society, Josiah Carpenter Library, Making Strides Against Breast
Cancer, Pink Heals Tour, Pittsfield/Barnstead Lions Club, Lions
International, Old Home Day Committee, PHS Alumni Association,
Conservation Committee, Pittsfield Fire/Rescue, PES PTO, Pittsfield
Youth Baseball Association, PYW, Rotary Club, Suncook Valley Soccer
Club, Tops #NH 38, Victory Workers 4-H Club, and Website Committee.
We’d like to THANK each of you for participating in
the event and hope to see you next year! Please feel free to
contact us with any other comments or suggestions for a future event

Gilbert’s
adult life and family activities were filled with a love of boating,
sailing and the ocean. He sailed with family and friends up
and down the East coast from Florida to
Nova Scotia and to
Bermuda.
Among his passions was a love of woodworking, crafting small boats
used as cradles by his grandchildren, as well as many other gifts
and projects.
He lived his life with a strong sense of history, tradition and
pride in his work and family.
