Northwood Business Directory Visitors Edition To Be Published As
we have in past years, the Northwood Economic Development
Committee plans to publish a Visitors Edition of our Business
Directory in 2016. The purpose of this brochure is to help
people coming into town locate retail shops, goods and services
that they might need during their stay.
There is no cost for a Northwood business to be included in the
Visitors Edition, but we need to know if the information we have
about your business is correct. Please go to the Town’s
web site and review the Visitor’s Guide that is posted in the
“Town Businesses” section. If you have any corrections or
suggestions for improvements, please call Town Hall @ 943 5586.
To meet our publishing deadline, we need to hear from you by
noon on Friday, May 13th .
Northwood Budget Committee
Submitted By Ginger Dole, Chairman
Northwood Budget Committee
Northwood adopted the Municipal Budget Act of 1935 at the Annual
Town Meeting on March 12, 1935. At that time it was voted
to have the budget committee consist of twelve (12) members-at-
large elected by the town. In addition, a representative
from the board of selectmen as well as a member of the school
board are voting members on the committee.
The budget committee is required by state RSA to develop an
operating budget for both the town and school district for the
upcoming year to be voted on by Northwood voters. We rely on
presentations from both the board of selectmen and school board
as to their needs for the upcoming year. After
discussions, the committee develops the recommended budgets
which are then addressed by voters at the respective
deliberative sessions, and then final voting at the March
election.
The twelve elected members serve for a term of three (3) years,
with 4 members being elected each year. We currently have
two (2) vacancies on the committee. We hope to fill the
vacancies and the individuals chosen will serve until the March
2017 election at which time they may decide to run for a longer
term. Come join us!! Anyone interested in serving
should send a letter of interest including some background
information detailing what experiences you can bring to the
committee. The letter of interest may be mailed to Budget
Committee, Northwood Town Hall, 818 First NH Turnpike,
Northwood, NH 03261 or emailed to
[email protected]
Consider serving your community as a member of the budget
committee.
