Northwood Meadows State Park
The
Friends of Northwood Meadows State Park is conducting its annual
Spring Work Day in the park on Saturday June 13th from 8 am to
noon (rain date is Sunday June 14th). Volunteers are welcome
and should bring hand tools (loppers, rake, shovel, etc.), work
gloves, and water/snacks. We plan to repair fishing platforms,
clear trails, beautify the park entrance, and do some touch up
painting. Call 664-5097 for more information.
Meadow Lake in the park has been drawn down since last fall in
order to complete emergency repairs to the dam. More permanent
repairs are likely this year, and in the meantime the lake will
continue to be kept low for safety reasons. The improved
parking lot is almost complete, the project conducted by the
State Parks and Recreation Division under a Recreational Trails
Program grant.
If
you have not taken the opportunity to visit Northwood Meadows,
early summer is a great time to enjoy any of the easy walking
trails throughout the park. There are numerous spots around the
lake to sit on a bench and take in the scenic beauty that
abounds. Bring a picnic lunch and relax for a while or for the
more adventurous walk up to the Saddleback Mountain trail for a
view that stretches for miles. There is a lot to see from
wildflowers under the pines to energetic beavers building their
homes. Each visit to the park brings a new exploration into the
natural world.
Letter To The Editor
To
the editor:
I
just wanted to take a quick moment to thank everyone who
supported me in the Special Election for State Representative
this past Tuesday. I am constantly encouraged by the amount of
community members who are passionate about fiscal responsibility
and the need for a fresh conservative voice up in Concord.
A
special thanks goes out to all of my wonderful volunteers who
have been at my side since the primary back in February. Their
hard work making phone calls, knocking doors, holding signs and
the like goes unmatched by any other group. It was so
encouraging to be surrounded by such positive, enthusiastic and
dedicated energy.
I
am so honored to serve our community as the next State
Representative for Rockingham’s 32nd District and I am excited
to bring a fiscally responsible, community centered voice to
Concord.
Thank you for your support!
Yvonne M. Dean-Bailey
Letter To The Editor
Congratulations
Congratulations to Yvonne Dean-Bailey on her impressive victory
and to Maureen Mann for her gracious concession statement. Also,
thanks to The Suncook Sun for providing a local forum for so
many diverse and strongly held views, especially during this
long and difficult campaign.

Letter To The Editor
Dear Editor,
I
am writing this letter to thank Senator John Reagan and the
other Senators who passed HB 603 (the bill that will allow
Parents or Guardians to opt their children out of assessments)
by a voice vote. I know Sen. Reagan voted for this because I
watched from the gallery. This bill will be going to Governor
Hassan’s Desk. Please contact her office, by email:
governor.nh.gov, by mail: Office of the Governor, State House,
107 North Main Street, Concord, NH 03301, or by phone: (603)
271-2121. Please be advised that she vetoed the bill SB 101
which would allow the cities and towns to opt out of Common
Core.
During the last Northwood School Board Meeting on May 7, 2015,
there was a 3 to 2 vote to bring a Common Core Aligned Math
Program into the Northwood School. The School Board Agenda for
Tonight’s Meeting, Thursday, May 21, 2015, states that they will
set a date for a Common Core Forum. Please come to
this, but if you do not want Common Core in our schools you
have to come the School Board Meetings or email and let our
elected School Board Representatives know. Unfortunately, the
warrant article was not enough.
Sincerely,
Marie L. Correa
