PRESCHOOL OPENINGS!

Are you thinking about enrolling your child in preschool for next fall? The Center School in Northwood is accepting registrations for the 2013-2014 school year. The Center School is a parent cooperative preschool located next to the town hall in Northwood, which provides a developmental program for three, four, and five year olds of Northwood and surrounding towns. There are openings in our two-day (T/Th) program and three-day (M/W/F) morning programs. Call or email us soon to get an information packet or to make an appointment to come for a visit! For information, please email director Karen Andersen at [email protected] or call her at the school at 942-7686.

Northwood Congregational Church is hosting their annual roast beef supper on Saturday, May 4th. The cost is: $10 per adult, $5 for 12 and under. First seating is 5 pm, and the second at 6:15 pm. Specify seating time preference when you order your ticket(s) by calling the church (942-7116). This event generally sells out, so make your reservations early for this delicious event. With home baked pie and beverages included with dinner, what a bargain!

Attention Northwood Area Realtors, Appraisers and Property Owners:

Northwood Economic Development Committee (EDC) to Host Realtor Open House May 15

Since Northwood does not have traditional zoning and regulates non-residential uses on a lot by lot basis, questions are frequently raised by real estate professionals and others with respect to property in Northwood.  The EDC will host an Open House on Wednesday, May 15 at 7:00 pm at the Town Hall with Town Planner, Elaine Planchet, who will explain the Non-residential Site Plan Review regulatory framework for the town.

The EDC hopes this Open House will assist Realtors and others with valuable information for Buyers and Sellers of potential commercial property in town and improve communications to benefit all involved.

Please contact Elaine Planchet at 942-5586, ext 218 or [email protected] for more information and to RSVP for planning purposes.  We look forward to seeing you there.

Harvey Lake Woman’s Club News

Submitted By Lucy Silva and Roberta Stearns

Members of the Harvey Lake Woman’s Club have been busy this spring.  On March 22 nine women gathered at the Northwood Congregational Church to make “comfort pillows” for women recovering from breast cancer surgery at Concord Hospital.

On April 2 the Harvey Lake Woman’s Club held its Annual Reciprocity Tea.  Fifty-six women, plus two guests,  attended from Barrington, Deerfield, Somersworth and Strafford. Coe-Brown Northwood Academy’s music department presented a well-received program.  Members of the Harvey Lake Woman’s Club provided a great selection of finger foods, tea and punch.  Everyone enjoyed seeing old friends and meeting new ones.

On May 7 the club will hold its Annual Luncheon at the Red Apple Restaurant in Concord.  Members are asked to send $11 to Elaine Covey before that date.  Car pools will leave from Northwood Congregation Church at 11:45 a.m.

On June 4 HLWC will celebrate its 100th anniversary of its founding by Caroline Armes with a White Glove Tea.

HLWC is a service organization and a member of General Federation of Women’s Clubs-NH.  Its object is to promote sociability and culture and to make itself a  power for good in the community.  All women in the area are invited to join us.

Northwood  Softball  Baseball Opening Day

Opening Day for the 2013 season of the Northwood Softball Baseball Association is Saturday May 4th. Parents are to drop off their kids to their coaches in front of the Northwood School starting at 10am. Teams will be lined up to March down to the upper ballfield at 10:30am. A mascot from the NH Fishercats will be joining our festivities. There will be two ball games starting at 12noon followed by more throughout the afternoon.

Please come out to help cheer on and support our kids who have been practicing hard to get ready for the season. The snack shack will open and there will be a raffle for a chance to win a scooter donated by J & B Auto Sales & Repair.  Tickets are currently on sale at J & B Auto and The Northwood Country Market.
