Join the fun at Chesley Memorial Library’s Story Time program!  Story Time for preschoolers of all ages will be held on Wednesday mornings at 10:30 am.  Children can listen to a story and make a craft to take home.  The first session will take place on September 12.  Registration is encouraged but new participants are always welcome at any time.  Please call Annette at 942-5472 or check out our website at www.chesleylib.com for more information.

Northwood Historical Society

The Northwood Historical Society will be presenting a program, Northwood’s Grand Army of the Republic on Tuesday, September 18 at 7:00 pm, at the Northwood Community Center. The program will feature information on this unique organization with membership limited to veterans of the Civil War.

A video will be shown on their history and views of their meeting room in Northwood. The video also includes the beautiful wall murals of Civil War scenes, which have been preserved as if the members had just walked out of the door and would be returning. Reference material and photos of the GAR will be available for review.

The video will also feature a visit to the Harvey Lake Cemetery with L. Sherman Elliott and his extensive knowledge of the grave sites.

The program is free and open to the public; light refreshments will be served.  Please join us on Tuesday, September 18 and learn of this little known treasure in Northwood’s history.

Open House At Chesley Memorial Library
Submitted By Donna Bunker, Chesley ML, Northwood

The Chesley Memorial Library staff and trustees along with the Friends of the Northwood Libraries invite you to attend an Open House on Saturday, September 15, from 12:00-2:00 pm. The Friends will proudly unveil the new library sign during this time.

They worked hard for many, many months to raise funds to purchase the sign.  Library patrons, residents, and local businesses also showed their support by donating to the sign fund so their joint efforts will be honored at the Open House.

The library will also be celebrating National Library Card Sign-Up Month so plan to sign up for a new library card if you don’t have one, use your card if you already have one, and/or get a free replacement card if needed… And enjoy light refreshments at the same time!
