Christian Leaders (Part 5) Biblical Leadership’s With
Humbleness By Pastor Ted White
What does a Christian leader
have that he did not receive? Actually, that could be asked of
anyone who claims to follow Jesus. It can even be asked of those who
do not acknowledge Jesus. So many people think they are “self made”
and do not acknowledge that what they have comes from God. We should
be thankful, humble and not unappreciative or prideful.
Our
attitude should be like that of the Lord Jesus as mentioned in
Philippians 2:5-8. He is our example, His Word is our guide. In this
section we are told that Jesus’ very nature is God. Yet, even as
great as He is, He made Himself nothing. He took on the very nature
of a servant, was made in human likeness and appeared as a man.
Jesus, the Creator and Sustainer of all things, humbled Himself. He
did not come as a great King from the world’s perspective, though He
is King of kings. He did not come looking for people to serve Him,
but instead He served the very creatures He created! Man is so puny
compared to Jesus who is so majestic, grand and awesome with all
power and authority. Humbleness?
He showed us what it is when He
allowed men to kill Him by crucifixion and all that entailed. The
resurrection declared He was the Son of God(Romans 1:4).
Christian leaders, Biblical leadership, should have the same humble
attitude as Jesus. All that a leader and all others have, they have
because God gave it to them. There is no place for pride, we are in
no way self-made. Pride is self-focused, humbleness is others
focused. Most assuredly, a humble person will be a person who serves
without having to be recognized. If they are recognized, they will
acknowledge that it is only by God’s grace that they are what they
are.
What does it mean to be humble? Need to be saved first! Go

CBNA
FBLA Announces Award Winners
Seniors
Caitlin McGann and Kaitlyn Maloy pose after receiving honorary FBLA
Awards.
The
Coe-Brown Northwood Academy Chapter of Future Business Leaders of
America is pleased to announce that seniors Caitlin McGann and
Kaitlyn Maloy recently qualified to receive honorary FBLA sashes
which they wore at recent graduation ceremonies. In order to attain
this honor, students must prove that they have met the eight
stringent requirements for eligibility. Each student must be an
active FBLA Officer anytime during the high school career, must have
attended at least one meeting a month, must have attended the fall
Leadership Workshop or the Spring Leadership Conference during the
senior year, must have attended at least one social event during
senior year, must have participated in at least one fundraiser
during senior year, must have participated in at least one
civic/community service event during senior year, must have been
inducted into the CBNA FBLA/PBL Chapter and must have received at
least a ‘B’ average or above in all business classes taken.
Recipient Caitlin McGann has been in FBLA since her sophomore year
She held office positions all three years and ran activities such as
the St. Patrick’s Day flowers, David’s House collection, and running
the FBLA table for the incoming freshmen registration night.
She won the FBLA Who’s Who last year.
Recipient Kaitlyn Maloy has
been an FBLA member since her freshman year and has been an officer
all 4 years. She has been FBLA president for the past two years and
has not only attended almost all the Fall Leadership Workshops and
State Conferences each year, but has chaired many of the
professional, service, civic, fundraising, and social events. It has
been clear that her enthusiasm and commitment has helped our chapter
win Honorary Chapter Awards for the past two years and she has won
the FBLA Who’s Who this year. These two young ladies join an
elite group of three other students attaining this honor in the past
twenty years for CBNA’s FBLA Chapter. Chapter advisor Joanne Zylak
congratulated these two students at a recent school assembly and
said that these students will be sorely missed as they head off to
college.
Letter
To the person or persons who find it necessary to steal from the
gravesite of my mother in the Pine Grove Cemetery, I want you to
know that it takes a very big person to steal from the dead. For two
years now, I have placed floral arrangements and personal trinkets
on my mother’s gravesite. For two years now, those items have
been stolen. The first time I chalked it up to kids needing a gift
for their mother on Mother’s Day, but it became obvious that was not
the scenario when it happened several more times. This year, I again
placed flowers and a solar light on her grave for Memorial Day and
upon visiting 10 days later, I find once again they are missing.
It is hard enough losing my mom without having the added grief of
knowing that someone is stealing from her grave. I wonder how the
person would feel if it were their mother’s grave that was being
disrespected time and time again.
If there is anyone who has any
information regarding these stolen items from the Pine Grove
Cemetery, please contact the Northwood Police Department. If the
person who has stolen from my mother’s grave is reading this, I ask
that you please stop and allow me and my family to mourn the loss of
our mother in peace.
Respectfully, Nancy Wilson Tasker

Summer
Reading Sponsors
Whether you are “Setting Sail,” “Making a
Splash,” or “Making Waves,” Summer Reading is an important event at
the library and in your child’s life. At the Chesley Memorial
Library we encourage our area’s youth to read and enjoy the many
benefits that the library offers over the summer.
As part of our
efforts to draw youth to the library we will be offering numerous
special events throughout the summer. Unfortunately, due to budget
cuts, the library isn’t able to offer what we have in the past. With
your help, the library can continue to offer quality programs and
events free of charge for all of Northwood’s youth. Donations of any
amount are greatly appreciated and may be tax deductible if through
the Friends of the Northwood Libraries. Unless otherwise specified,
all donators will be featured in publicity for Summer Reading and in
Northwood’s Town Report.
Reading throughout the summer benefits
students; it helps them to retain skills learned during the school
year. We hope that you will consider joining the Chesley Memorial
Library in our efforts to support our area’s youth. Donations may be
mailed to the Chesley Memorial Library, 8 Mountain Avenue,
Northwood, NH 03261.
