Last spring, Mrs. Rowley's multiage 1/2 class at Pittsfield
Elementary School learned about water quality. Students were
able to read about the scarcity of appropriate drinking water
and how water can be filtered and purified for drinking. They
also learned about the amount of plastic disposable water
bottles that are used and then discarded. Throughout the
project, they made their own water filters and tested water
samples from around Pittsfield. The class was able to create a
presentation of their learning and submitted it to the PES PTO
with a fund request to buy a water bottle filling station for
the elementary school. PTO graciously approved the request and
the filling station was officially opened on June 7th. Thank you
PES PTO for supporting Pittsfield students and our environment!
