Author Dan Szczesny Appearance In Pittsfield
June 10th @ 5:00pm
The
Friends of the Josiah Carpenter Library and the Pittsfield Youth
Workshop have joined together to host a program featuring New
Hampshire resident and author Dan Szczesny at the Pittsfield Youth
Workshop (5 Park St. Pittsfield, NH) on June 10th at 5:00 pm. The
program is geared to children ages ten and up who enjoy hiking or
are interested in learning more about hiking from two well
experienced “peak baggers.” Dan will be joined by his hiking
companion Janelle who will explain the background behind the title
of Dan’s book, “The Adventures of Buffalo and Tough Cookie” which
will be sold and autographed by the author at the program for
$15.00.
The program’s focus will be about the book and how the two
accomplished completing the “52 with a View” White Mountains of New
Hampshire list. The book breaks down each of the 52 hikes with
pertinent information about each hike such as its elevation, the
location and directions to the trailhead, the trip mileage and some
valuable information to know before you go! Dan will narrate a
stunning slide show and take questions at the end of his program.
There will be “refreshments” that reflect what a typical hiker might
want to put their backpack for the haul and a free raffle to include
a backpack full of hiking gear and an autographed copy of the book.
Dan is an experienced hiker who recently returned from hiking in
Nepal with his wife. He is also Associate Publisher to one of New
Hampshire’s largest news publications, “The Hippo.” Please call the
library for further information at 435-8406. We look forward to
hosting Dan and to revealing some highlights into the library’s 2014
Summer Reading Program. Hope to meet you there!
