Players’ Kid’s Theater Workshop Presentation of Xanadu, Jr.
It’s time to believe in magic with Xanadu, Jr! Thirty
six kids ranging in age from 8 to 18 are hard at work rehearsing
this hilarious, roller skating musical adventure about the magical
and beautiful Greek muse, Kira, who descends from the heavens of Mt.
Olympus to Venice Beach, California, on a quest to inspire a
struggling artist, Sonny Malone, as he strives to achieve the
greatest artistic creation of all time - the first roller disco!
With music from the 1980 musical Xanadu, this show is a retro trip
back to the days when disco was in. Xanadu, Jr. will run at the
Scenic Theatre on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, February 20, 21 and
22 at 7:30 pm. Tickets are $12 for adults and $8 for kids under 18.
The show will also be performed for local schools on Tuesday and
Wednesday, February 18 and 19 in special matinee performances. For
information about those performances, contact Maye Hart at
[email protected]. To reserve
tickets for the evening performances, call 435-8852.
The entire cast and crew of Xanadu, Jr. were treated to free
tickets, courtesy of The Palace Theater in Manchester, to see their
presentation of Xanadu on Saturday, January 20. The cast had a great
time watching the professionals play their roles, and everyone came
home very excited and inspired about our own production.
The cast includes Bailey Jennings as Kira, Caleb Molloy as Sonny,
and Turner Jennings as Danny McGuire. Muses include Alex Keyes as
Melpomene, Tessa Keyes as Calliope, Lexie O’Brien as Erato, Essence
Bourque as Euterpe, Sabrina Sargent as Polyhymnia, Sarah May Schultz
as Terpsichore, Katie O’Brien as Thalia and Taylor Sargent as
Urania. Jordan Atherton, Emma Molloy and Riley Kennedy are The
Andrews Sisters, and AJ Robidas, Ian Treadwell, Joe Garcia, Justin
Greene, Spencer Griffin and Logan Connor rock on as The Tubes. Halah
Abdelwahid plays the goddess Thetis, Joe Molloy plays Hermes, and
Dylan O’Brien fills the shoes of Zeus. Appearing as Sirens are April
and Molly Keyes, Paige Provencal, Cecily Schultz, Faith Griffin,
Ryan and Jolene Wood, Abigail Cote, Courtney Abell, Samantha
Simpson, Sage Gallant, Kianna Vincelette and Courtney Butler.
The show is directed by Maye Hart, choreographed by Margot Keyes,
with set design by Turner Jennings and Dylan O’Brien, lighting
design by Jim Hart, and sound by Wynn Bourque and Amanda Walton.
The Kid’s Theater Workshop is a program designed to introduce kids
to performing on stage, and is presented to local schools in two
matinee performances and three evening performances. It is a program
by kids, for kids. The program is open to kids from age 8 to 18, and
is for both those who want to be on stage and for kids who would
prefer more technical positions, such as lights, sound, and stage
management.
