There’s A New Dog In Town
The Pittsfield Police Department’s K-9 Unit
Officer Joe Di George and the Pittsfield Police Department would
like to thank the businesses and private citizens who have
contributed to the success of the Pittsfield Police Department’s K-9
Unit; Officer Di George and K-9 Cache.
Without the donations of the following people, organizations and
businesses (or "believers" as Officer Di George refers to them), the
K-9 Unit in Pittsfield would not be possible. Cache, himself was
purchased through the International Canine Exchange, a native of
Holland, and was purchased with donations from Globe Manufacturing,
Darrah Enterprises, T.C’s Garage and Dave Towing; all of Pittsfield
and New Hampshire Motor Speedway of Loudon. These donations coupled
with many donations from private citizens also helped put Officer Di
George and Cache through a 14 week patrol school sponsored by the
N.H. State Police and has them currently certified to NESPAC
standards.
There’s a new dog in town and he’s part of a team that has completed
8 weeks of drug training with the NH State Police, certified in
marijuana, cocaine, heroin, meth and ecstasy, and trained in
environments and locations such as U.S. Customs, Fed Ex, Yellow
Freight Trucking, Bear Brook State Park and Capitol Auto Auctions.
Donations have funded 100% of the K-9 Unit’s expenses including but
not limited to: donations of vet bills for the life of the dog by
Central New Hampshire Animal Care, Chichester; gas money from The
Sanderson Trust Fund; a Level 3 Stab and Ballistic resistance K9
vest sponsored in part by Vest A Dog Foundation through a grant
written by Officer Di George; and one ton of dog food donated by
Tractor Supply Company, Chichester.
The K-9 Unit is always accepting donations. Product, service and
monetary donations of all denominations are a great asset to this
portion of The Pittsfield Police Department that is funded 100% by
donations. Tax deductible donations can be made out to the
Pittsfield Police Association/K-9 Unit. Donations of product or
services can be referred to Officer Di George at the Pittsfield
Police Station at 435-7535.
Once again, thank you to everyone who made this K-9 Unit possible.
