Eagle Scout Awards To Be Presented
Robert Correa and William Farrell of Northwood, NH, have both earned the
highest award the Boy Scouts of America offers to Scouts, the Eagle
Scout Award.
Correa and Farrell will be recognized in ceremonies March 6, 2010,
at St. Joseph’s church hall.
Members of Saddleback Mountain Lions Club Troop 312, are two of
approximately 4 percent of all Boy Scouts who attain the Eagle rank,
according to Scoutmaster Mark Farrell.
Each member must earn 21 merit badges and successfully complete a
community related service project to earn his Eagle; Correa chose to
assist his church and complete a walking path and bridge on property
across from St. Joseph’s Church in Northwood.
Farrell chose to assist
the Lions Clubs of NH by building a campsite at Camp Pride in New Durham
which consisted of clearing the land and building tent platforms, a
campfire ring and picnic tables. The camp will offer this new experience
“rustic camping” to kids with disabilities in the summer of 2010.
Both have served the Troop as Senior Patrol Leaders and both have
earned the Ad Altare Dei Award for excellence in Catholic Scouting. Both
have attended leadership training programs and Correa attended Philmont
Scout Camp leadership training as well.
Correa is currently a senior at Coe Brown Northwood Academy and
Farrell is a freshman at UNH.
Correa is active in the Choral and Drama Programs, Science and Chess
Clubs at CBNA. He plans to study Biomechanical Engineering in college.
Farrell is active in the Choral and Music Programs at UNH, and in
the summer works at Camp Bell Scout Camp as a counselor.
Correa is the son of Alec and Marie Correa of Northwood and Farrell
is the son of Mark and Mary-Ann Farrell also of Northwood.
