Live Birds of Prey visit Gilmanton Year-Round Library September 20th

The creator and operator of an Epping rehabilitation facility dedicated to the rescue and care of injured raptors – birds of prey such as hawks, owls, falcons, and the like – will describe her work, accompanied by several of her avian friends, in a presentation to be offered at 6 p.m. on Thursday, September 20, at the Gilmanton Year-Round Library.

Jane Kelly from On the Wing is a federal and state licensed rehabilitator, educator and falconer, specializing in raptors.  A little over seven years ago she found 10 dead barred owls along the shoulder of Route 101 between Auburn and Hampton.  It was a calling she couldn’t ignore and decided to get involved, bridging the gap for wildlife through education and rehabilitation.  She will offer attendees a glimpse into the complex relationship between raptors and humans and the reasons why protection and rehabilitation are important in our lives.  “I am honored to be in the presence of these amazing creatures and to educate all age groups in making a difference for wildlife,” she explains.

On The Wing is part of an amazing team: Veterinary Emergency and Surgery Hospital, New Hampshire Fish and Game, animal control officers, local and state law enforcement and the general public.

The program is free and open to the public.  The library is located on Route 140 opposite the Gilmanton School.
