Letter

Attention Gilmanton and Belmont Junior High School girls.  An opportunity now exists to apply for a scholarship to the 73rd session of American Legion Auxiliary Granite Girls State.  This is an all expense paid week-long event to be held June 25- 30 at St. Anselm’s College in Manchester, N.H.  The cost for this event is $425.  $50. nonrefundable fee to be paid by the applicant and the American Legion Auxiliary Ellis-Geddes-Levitt Unit #102 of Gilmanton is proud to fund the remaining $375. for one lucky applicant.

Granite Girls State is a week-long immersive learning experience held on a college campus where girls live in “cities” within the dormitory. Through a nonpartisan curriculum, students assume the roles of government leaders, campaigning as “Federalists” and “Nationalists” to become NH mayors, county and state officials. They learn the important lessons of democracy, patriotism, love, loyalty, learning, truth, and service. They learn the duties, privileges, rights, and responsibilities of American citizenship.  The learning, experience, memories, and friendships last a lifetime.

For more information and to obtain an application, see your guidance counselor.  Applications must be received no later than May 4, 2017.

Raelyn Cottrell, President
American Legion Auxiliary
Ellis-Geddes-Levitt, Unit #102
Gilmanton, New Hampshire

Gilmanton School PTA Flocking Flamingos!

The Gilmanton School PTA is back at it again with it’s flocking flamingos! Our annual event started last week and there have been sightings in Gilmanton, both in the classroom and in the community!

Last year, our generous community flocked almost 70 homes in Gilmanton. This FUNdraiser helps supplement Gilmanton School students’ curriculum and enrich their educational experiences. The funds raised by the PTA help fund programs such as our artist in residence and our classroom naturalist.  They also help fund field trips and so many other things!

These activities are extremely important to our children’s educational enrichment. If you are interested in putting some pink birds on your students, family or friend’s home (in Gilmanton only) please send us an e-mail at [email protected] and our flocking technicians will get the job done! Have they migrated into your yard or classroom
