Lower Gilmanton First Baptist Church Society Annual Meeting
The First Baptist Church, the white church that overlooks Lower
Gilmanton from the brow of the hill on Route 107, is holding the
Annual Meeting of the Church Society on Monday, April 29, 2013, at
7:30 PM at the meeting house.
The Church was founded in 1773 and the current building was built in
1842. Over the years it has served the community with four Sunday
evening services each summer and a community Christmas service as
well as for weddings and funerals. If you are interested in helping
to keep this special landmark, which is on the National Historic
Register, an active part of our community for the future, please
attend the annual meeting.
Laconia Adult Education
Get Ready For Golf!
Laconia Adult Education will be offering group Beginning and
Intermediate Golf Classes beginning on Tuesday, April 30, 2013 at
Laconia Country Club. Now is the time to get ready to learn how to
play golf or improve your golf game. Classes will be taught by
Jason Baldini, Laconia Country Club Assistant Golf Professional. He
will also serve as the new Fall Laconia High School Golf Team Coach.
If you have ever thought about picking up a golf club, either for
the first time or returning once again to the game, you can make
golf your sport for a lifetime. Taking lessons simply makes learning
the game much easier and improvement in your play takes place much
faster. This will increase your enjoyment of the sport not to
mention the safety of those around you on the golf course.
You will learn the 5 basic body actions necessary to achieve maximum
results in attaining your golfing goal of playing well in a
relatively short period of time. Holding the club properly and
learning how to hit a golf ball are acquired skills. Grip, swing,
set up and proper etiquette are all important points in learning the
language of golf.
To enroll in the group golf classes or for more information, please
contact the Laconia Adult Education Office at 524-5712. Get ready
for golf this spring and begin to enjoy countless years of lifelong
learning. Remember, there is no right or wrong way to swing a golf
club. However, there are universal basics that all golfers should
strive to achieve and this is a wonderful way to begin to play par
golf.

that every donation we receive can be counted towards our total
dollar amount. The “Food for Fines” program at the GYRL counts
towards our Feinstein Challenge also, so get those fines paid before
the end of April!
The GCC Food Pantry and Thrift Shop is staffed by a wonderful group
of volunteers who work many hours. We are always looking for more
wonderful people to volunteer to work at the shop. If you have been
thinking of giving some volunteer time please give us a call. We are
open a total of 12 hours a week and usually have people who work in
shifts of at least 2 hours. Please give Jane Sisti a call at
364-7437 and she will work you into the schedule. With spring and
summer upon us we need extra help so that everyone can enjoy the
wonderful weather.
As always, if you wish to make a donation of food or clothing to the
GCC Food Pantry and Thrift Shop, we ask that you bring it to the
shop during our business hours. Food can be left in one of the
collection boxes located at the Academy Building, the Gilmanton
School or the Year Round Library. Checks can be mailed to us at PO
Box 6, Gilmanton Iron Works, 03837.
We are located on Route 140 in Gilmanton Iron Works, across from the
Iron Works Market. We are open on Monday 1pm – 5pm, Wednesday 3pm –
7pm, and Saturday 10am – 2pm. Parking is located in the Gilmanton

We thank you for your continued support of the Food Pantry and all
of its programs. Remember that sales from the Thrift Shop go to
support the Pantry.
