Recently people from our area have been shredding
and stealing political signs from personal property and along our
roads. This act is considered a crime in many jurisdictions and it
just doesn’t make sense.
Someone who takes the time to put
a sign on their lawn or to vote for the persons they choose, do so
because they’ve taken the time to learn about them. You can’t
remove what is in someone’s heart by merely ripping a sign up or
stealing them. We believe in our choices and will vote for them on
September 11th in the Primary and again on November 6th in the
general election no matter how many signs are stolen or destroyed.
So take a moment to clear your head before you commit another crime
and fill it with knowledge instead. Knowledge is powerful; being a
bully is weak and childish.
I support Mitt Romney for President,
Ovide Lamontagne for Governor, and generally the Republican party
because I’ve done the research and feel that these are the people I
want to lead my country and my State. Think about it and possibly
turn that destructive energy around and become a volunteer or an
advocate for the people you believe in so you can feel as if you are
part of the solution. There is no law against that!

Gilmanton Iron Works
Gilmanton Year-Round Library Welcomes
Roneydarith Delgadillo As Artist In The Library
Paintings by Roneydarith Delgadillo, of Gilmanton Iron Works, are
featured as the Gilmanton Iron Works artist in the Library. A
reception will be held Saturday, September 15, 1-3 pm at the
Library.
Originally from the desert city of Juarez, Mexico,
Roneydarith Delgadillo, of Gilmanton Iron Works, will be the
Gilmanton Year-Round Library’s featured artist during the fall. Come
meet Roneydarith at the GYRL Artist Reception on Saturday, September
15, 1-3 pm, and see for yourself how her art interacts between
light, sound, and living things while always striving to create art
pieces that are fluid and dynamic.
Roney explains that she is
“currently focused on working in the developmental stage of her
personal style, combining technical with abstract impressionist and
modernist painting”. Her art reflects both an innate
appreciation for aesthetics and a desire to interpret her
surroundings.
As a child she had the opportunity to live in many
Mexican cities allowing her to experience the diverse cultural
nuances and natural beauty of the Mexican people and landscape.
Her artistic trends were clear from an early age but it would be
much later when she finally started in the art world.
In 2011 she
immigrated to the U.S. After a six month stay in southern
Texas, the family continued on to New Hampshire so her husband,
Jorge, could accept employment in Laconia. Roneydarith now lives in
Gilmanton IW with her husband and three children.

Tuesday, 9/11/12 is Primary Election day in New
Hampshire. Gilmanton voters will also be able to vote at a Special
School Election whether to expend the amount of $40,349.00 for
increases in salaries and benefits for Gilmanton teachers in fiscal
year 2013-2014. The original warrant article was defeated in March,
2012.
Some questions remain in the minds of voters: Is it fair
for certain teachers to receive increases when paraprofessionals and
all other contract workers receive zero? Is it fair for teachers
with more years of service to receive extra benefits? Is it fair for
teachers to receive increases when town employees receive zero?
At the Gilmanton School Board Meeting on August 14, 2012 there was
discussion about the projected fund balance remaining after all
expenses for the 2011-2012 school year have been adjusted.
That
amount is currently $475,000 but could change somewhat. Last year’s
fund balance was $521,000 for a two year total of $996,000 that the
taxpayers of our town have provided to the School District in excess
of their needs.
Think about these issues and vote on September
11. The official ballots are posted on the town website at
www.gilmantonnh.org. Absentee ballots are available from the
Town Clerk. Voting is at the Academy Building from 7:00 am to 7:00
pm.
