Congratulations to Alyssa Borowy who was named to the President’s List for the Spring 2012 semester at Southern New Hampshire University in Manchester. She is majoring in BA History.

To be eligible for this honor, a student must compile an academic grade point average of 3.5 - 4.0.

The Gilmanton Fireman’s Association will be holding the first of our two boot drives this Sunday, July 15th from around 6:00 am to around 11:00 am. We will be in the road at the intersection of NH Route 140 and NH Route 107. Please drop by and say hello!

Donations are greatly appreciated, however, not by any means mandatory. The money raised will help defray the costs of External Automated Defibrillators for our Fire Department’s vehicles. Look forward to seeing you all on race day!

Diane Nyren Is Artist In The Gilmanton Year Round Library

Gilmanton Diane_Nyren_painting.JPG

Diane Nyren is Gilmanton Year-Round Library’s summer Artist in the Library. Her paintings and other creations are on display during July and August. Meet her at a reception on July 14th, 1:30 - 3:30 pm.

Diane Nyren will be the Artist in the Library July through August. A selection of her oil paintings, floor canvases and decorated ‘found’ objects are displayed at the Library (on Route 140 opposite the Gilmanton School). Meet the Library’s newest artist at an Artist Reception on Saturday, July 14th, from 1:30 to 3:00 pm at the Library. All are welcome; light refreshment will be served.

Diane has lived in Gilmanton for 13 years. After retiring from federal service in 2006, she decided to take her hobby of decorative painting to a whole new level. Diane loves to paint oil canvases. Her specialty is pet portraits. She brings old items of furniture back to life via acrylics, with her knack for knowing just what it needs, be it folk art, flowers, or wildlife. She paints custom murals and other custom works on whatever surface anyone wants!

Diane has taught decorative painting classes, and is in the process of starting up classes in Gilmanton.

GCC Food Pantry And Thrift Shop News

Bag Sale, Bag Sale, Bag Sale! That’s right, the Bag Sale is back. The sale will begin Monday, July 9th and run through Saturday, July 28th. Anything and everything in the thrift shop that you can fit into a brown paper bag is yours for just $8.00. Better yet, you can purchase 2 bags for just $15.00.

Fill your bag with wonderful brand name clothing for the entire family from infants on up. There are still plenty of warm summer days left for a new outfit. Or perhaps your son or daughter is going off to camp and you don’t want to send the "nice" stuff to camp. Gramma, are the grandchildren coming for a week to the lake house and always forgetting a sweatshirt or sandals or even their swimsuit? And don’t forget that back to school always starts with those last days of hot summer weather and the kids have surely outgrown last years school clothes already.

Come on down to the GCC Food Pantry and Thrift Shop for some really great clothing during our Bag Sale, July 9th thru July 28th. 1 bag for $8.00, 2 bags for $15.00! Remember that all proceeds from the sales at the Thrift Shop go to support the GCC Food Pantry.

We are still collecting items for our 3rd annual yard sale. We are accepting items that are in good, saleable condition. The Yard Sale will be held on Saturday, July 14th from 8 am to 2 pm at the Gilmanton Community Church on Route 140 in the Iron Works. There will be No Pantry Services available on the day of the yard sale.

If you have items you wish to donate please come by the GCC Thrift Shop or call Beth at 267-1934 or Jane at 364-7437. Please do not leave items at the church or the pantry building as we are not there everyday and items may be exposed to weather and possible damage. We hope to see you at the Yard Sale on the 14th for some really great bargains.

Food items for donation can be brought to the Food Pantry or left in one of our collection boxes. Boxes are located at the Gilmanton School, Academy Building and at the Year Round Library. We thank you for your continued support of the programs at the Food Pantry. If you wish to make a monetary donation you can mail it to GCC Food Pantry and Thrift Shop, PO Box 6, Gilmanton IW, NH 03837.

We are always looking for volunteers to work at the Food Pantry and Thrift Shop. We also need people to help with various jobs associated with running the pantry and thrift shop like picking up our donated breads from Hannaford, sorting clothing, planting and weeding of the new garden and of course we will need extra help on the day of our yard sale. If you would like to help us out, please call Jane Sisti at 364-7437.

We are located on Route 140 in Gilmanton Iron Works, across from the Iron Works Market. We are open on Monday 1pm – 5pm, Wednesday 3pm – 7pm, and Saturday 10am – 2pm. Parking is located in the Gilmanton Community Church parking lot just west of the shop.
