Letter To The Editor
My name is Peter Bolster and I wish to announce my intention to run
for the Republican nomination for State Senator from the newly
redrawn Senate District 6, which includes the City of Rochester and
the towns of Alton, Barnstead, Gilmanton, New Durham and Farmington.
I am presently a two- term member of the State House of
Representatives and a two-term member of the Alton Selectboard. I
have been a resident of the State of New Hampshire for over 30
years, most recently serving a Pastor of the Alton Community Church
until retirement. I have a strong involvement in activities serving
seniors, youth and economically distressed persons in the community.
I am running for the State Senate because of my desire to restore
sensible and balanced thinking and action to the process of finding
reasonable solutions to our state and local concerns. The New
Hampshire I know may be conservative but it is also compassionate to
those in need and respectful of the place of government in enabling
and protecting our personal hopes and dreams. I believe in limited
but effective government, a deep respect for all public servants and
careful stewardship of the unique environment that makes New
Hampshire the attractive place that drew us here and keeps us here.
I strongly believe in the protection of individual rights within the
context of a commitment to responsible community life. The political
process should not be primarily about party and "them-against-us"
rhetoric, but honest and thoughtful dialogue between people who
recognize that we can never get all we want, if we want to insure
that everyone’s freedoms and hopes are to be respected.
I look forward to the dialogue of the upcoming campaign as I listen
and learn from the constituents of Senate District 6.
Rep. Peter Bolster,
