The American Red Cross is holding a Blood Drive on Tuesday,
September 6th from 3:30 to 8:00 pm at the Pittsfield Elementary
School, 34 Bow Street.
Appointments are encouraged, please call
1-800-Red-Cross to schedule. However, walk-ins are welcome.
Donors this drive will receive an American Red Cross/Red Sox
T-Shirt; a coupon for a free round of golf in October at
participating golf clubs and a coupon from Monro Muffler/Brake or
Tire Warehouse.
How good you will feel if you take a little time
out that day to donate. Remember, the life you save could be
your own or that of a family member.

Gilmanton First Baptist Church Society
The Lower Gilmanton First Baptist Church, the white church that
overlooks Lower Gilmanton from the brow of the hill on Province
Road, Route 107, has concluded its series of Sunday evening
services.
We want to graciously thank Pastor Linda Bolton,
Reverend Alfred Page, and accompanists Betty Derby and Reverend
Henry Frost of the Loudon Free Will Baptist Church for sharing with
us their gifts of faith in words and music.
We would also
like to thank Roy and Brenda Buttrick for sharing with us their
special music. Thank you parishioners, for your contribution
of refreshments and flowers throughout the summer. The four
Sunday evening services were enjoyed by all.

Library
The Gilmanton Corner Library has all the ingredients for
a winning read! Library staff members have chosen their favorite
culinary author and each week for the months of September and
October an author, book, recipe and treat will be featured at the
Corner Library. We will begin September 6th with Diane Mott
Davidson’s new book “Crunch Time” and recipe for Crunch Time
Cookies.
Some future culinary authors featured: “Apple Turnover
Murder” by Joanne Fluke, “Blood Orange Brewing” by Laura Childs,
“Killer Crab Cakes” by Livia Washburn, and New Hampshire’s own Lorna
Barrett’s “Bookplate Special”. So pick up a book, a treat, cuddle
under a blanket and spend some time with our culinary mystery
cozies!
Drawing time for our beautiful quilt is near but there is
still time to buy your ticket. Columbus Day weekend at our Book And
Bake Sale, we will draw the lucky winner. Tickets are $1.00 or 6
tickets for $5.00 at the library on Monday and Thursday 2 - 8,
Wednesday and Friday 2 - 6, and Tuesday 2 - 4.

Gilmanton Labor Day Fair
The Gilmanton Labor Day Fair, Saturday,
September 3rd, 2011, at the Crystal Lake Ball Park, from 6 pm to
10:30 pm.
All proceeds benefit the non-profit organization of the
Crystal Lake Association, and will keep the Gilmanton Labor Day Fair
tradition going.
Bring the kids and come enjoy some great ball
park food, play some games with lots of prizes, listen to a local
band, watch as 5 contestants race each other in a pie eating contest
and then end it off with a fantastic finale of fireworks!
We are

Spaghetti Dinner
The Gilmanton Community Church will be hosting a
delicious Spaghetti Dinner on Saturday, September 10, 2011 from 5:00
to 7:00 pm at the Gilmanton Community Church on Route 107 in
Gilmanton Corners, NH. We invite you all to come enjoy the
great food. Cost of the meal will be $8.00. Children age
5 and under will be free.
Proceeds will go to Making
Strides Against Breast Cancer in honor of Karen Meader. This
event will be hosted by her granddaughter, Kristi Oliver.
Please plan to come and make this a successful evening for a great
cause!

Food Pantry And Thrift Shop News
In recognition of Back to School
at the Gilmanton School and Gilford High School, the GCC Thrift Shop
will be having a Blue and “Gold” (its really yellow ) Barb Sale.
The sale begins Monday, August 29th and runs thru Saturday,
September 10th. Every item in the shop with a Blue or Yellow
barb will be 50% Off.
We have a wonderful selection
of great clothes for boys and girls, and we now have a “Juniors”
rack. As always, brand names are not priced higher and we have
many names such as Abercrombie, Aeropostale, GAP, Ralph Lauren,
American Eagle, Hollister, and many more. Come in and check us
out and enjoy great savings for the whole family with our Back to
School Blue and Yellow 50% Off Sale!
Just a reminder that the GCC
Food Pantry and Thrift Shop committee, with help from the Gilmanton
School District Title I funds, will be assisting families in need
with school supplies. If you have a child or children in
either Gilmanton School or Gilford High School and you are in need
of assistance with supplies for the upcoming school year, please
contact Beth Lavin at 267-1934, or Jane Sisti at 364-7437.
If you
would like to make a donation to the Food Pantry you can drop your
donations off during our regular business hours. There
are also collection bins at the Academy Building in the Corners, the
Year Round Library and at the Iron Works Market.
We accept
non-perishable food items, household and personal care items for our
pantry. If you wish to make a monetary donation you can mail
it to GCC Food Pantry and Thrift Shop, PO Box 6, Gilmanton IW, NH
03837. If you are interested in volunteering at the pantry and
thrift shop please contact Sharon Barton at 267-5934 or Jane Sisti
at 364-7437. We are always looking for people to work during
business hours or upstairs in our sorting area. You must be 18
years old to work in the shop.
We are located on Route 140 in
Gilmanton Iron Works, across from the Iron Works Market. We
are open on Monday 9am – 1pm, Wednesday 3pm – 7pm, and Saturday 10am
– 2pm. Parking is located in the Gilmanton Community Church
parking lot just west of the shop.
