The Gilmanton Women’s Club will meet at the Temperance Tavern on Monday, Nov. 7 at 1:30 pm. Members are reminded to bring food donations for the Gilmanton Community Church Food Pantry, an unwrapped toy for a needy child’s Christmas, and a wrapped gift for our Yankee Swap. This final meeting for 2011 will be a celebration of our successful fund-raising year.

Lock Haven, Pa. - California’s Chelsea Crockett recorded a total of eight points to help the Vulcans inch closer to the Pennisylvania State Athletic Conference’s regular season crown with a pair of wins to remain unbeaten on the season.

Crockett recorded eight points on two goals and four assists to help California to a pair of wins over Bloomsburg and Millersville, which kept the Vulcans in first place in the PSAC standings. She scored her two goals on just three shots on goal and for the week was a part of six of the Vulcans’ eight goals.

In last Wednesday’s double-overtime win at Bloomsburg, Crockett dished out the assist on the game-winner. On Saturday, Crockett tallied seven points in a 6-0 win over Millersville. She scored the first and eventual game-winner in the 11th minute before assisting on the next three Cal goals and then added a second goal later on in the 68th minute.

Farewell Celebration For Claudette Gill

Gilmanton Library retiree claudette_at_desk.JPG

Claudette Gill welcomes GYRL patrons.

We are both happy and sad to announce that Claudette Gill, Gilmanton Year-Round Librarian, will be retiring at the end of the month. This is Claudette’s 2nd retirement, coming out of her initial retirement to bring GYRL to the next level with all her hard work. Without Claudette the library’s materials would not be automated and the book and DVD collection would be much slimmer and a lot less interesting!

Claudette brought over 24 years of library experience, including 12 years as the Brookline library director. She is an avid reader and started helping the library out as a volunteer, we will miss her greatly!

On behalf of the patrons and members, the Gilmanton Year-Round Library Association extends the best of wishes to Claudette as she begins yet another phase in her life.

There will be a farewell celebration for Claudette on Thursday, November 3rd at 6:30 pm. Please join us for good company and light refreshments. Everyone welcome – we hope to see you there.

The Gilmanton Year-Round Library, located at 1385 Route 140, and is open Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1 to 7 p.m., Wednesdays and Fridays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Call 364-2400 or visit the library online at gyrla.org.
