A very special thank you to the Administration, School Board, Teachers, and School Staff, for working so hard to make my retirement celebration so wonderful! My school community will always be a very special part of who I am and what I love. Your kindness and support through my years at Gilmanton School will be remembered by the special things we have accomplished.

To my former students, students, parents, and community members, please accept my sincere thanks for the cards, kind words, and gifts given to me at my special retirement event! I am still overwhelmed by your thoughtfulness and kind words.

Elizabeth Davies and Nicholas Longlitz Scholar Leader students at Gilmanton School in Gilmanton, NH, were recently honored at the 11th Annual Scholar Leader Awards Banquet on June 3, 2010, at the Center of New Hampshire in Manchester, NH. The students were presented with an award. The criteria included demonstrating academic initiative and scholarship, providing service to classmates and school, exemplifying positive attitudes and demonstrating leadership in the classroom and school activities.

Nearly 350 students, educators, and parents attended this banquet to celebrate the achievements of the middle level students who are representative of the many fine young adolescents in all middle level schools in the State of New Hampshire. Also in attendance were Governor John Lynch, Dr. Virginia Barry, NH Commissioner of Education; John Lyons, Esq., State Board of Education. Dr. Barry was the evening’s keynote speaker. 68 eighth grade students from 34 schools were honored at the Eleventh Annual Middle Level Scholar Leader Awards Banquet.

The event was organized by the New Hampshire Association for Middle Level Education (NHAMLE) and the New England League of Middle Schools (NELMS) with supporting from Lifetouch National School Studios.

Dr. Robert Spear, Acting Executive Director of NELMS, praised the students for the willingness to help others and for choosing excellence in their personal and school lives. He acknowledged the many contributions of the parents for creating environments that promote good citizenship and scholarship. Spear noted that “when students, parents, and schools work together, powerful learning takes place.”
