Celebrating 140 Years

MVSB In Laconia Celebrates Oct. 16 With Free Paper Shredding, Children’s Choir And More!

Meredith Village Savings Bank is celebrating 140 years of serving the Lakes Region with a series of Open House events throughout the year in each community it serves.

On Friday, October 16 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., the festivities continue at the bank’s Laconia Office at 379 South Main Street – featuring:

• A singing performance from local schoolchildren starting at 11:30 a.m. Comprised of 5th graders from Elm Street School and Pleasant Street School, the singing group will perform several songs from their “From the Inside Out” show, which deals with themes of character and responsibility.

• Free paper shredding! Reduce the risk of fraud and identity theft by destroying your old documents at a specialized shred truck, which will be onsite in our parking lot from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. A representative from Cintas, the bank’s professional document management company, will be on site to explain the process and ensure the security of shredded items. You’ll even get to watch on the “Shred Cam” monitor as your documents are destroyed.

• The opportunity to meet MVSB CEO and President Sam Laverack and learn more about the 140-year history of the bank, which was founded by Meredith businessman Seneca Ladd in 1869. Photographs and information chronicling the past 140 years will be available for viewing.

• Free giveaways and refreshments.

This special Open House event also provides guests with an opportunity to view the spacious and elegant interior of the Laconia office, which opened its doors in August 2005. The 3-level, 16,908-square-foot building was designed to serve the financial needs of a wide variety of customers, as well as serving as a gathering place for members of the community. The building reflects both Laconia’s heritage as well as MVSB’s philosophy of being open to customers’ ideas.

“For 140 years, we’ve believed we can best serve our customers by being open to ideas, listening to customers’ needs, and working together to help them achieve their goals,” explains Laverack. “Although the Laconia office is one of our newer ones, we took special care when we built it to design a space reflecting Laconia’s rich heritage as a mill town while providing the modern financial products and services the community needs.”

In keeping with the bank’s commitment to the local communities it serves, MVSB devotes a significant portion of its Laconia property to community use. On the lower level of the building (beneath the teller stations and customer service offices), a large multi-purpose room with a kitchenette is available for use by community organizations and non-profits for meetings. In addition, for the past 3 years, the bank has leased a 19th century brick structure on the same South Main Street property to the Lakes Region Chamber of Commerce. This arrangement has allowed the chamber to more than double the size of their previous information center and provide a new resource center for businesses.

In addition to the Laconia event, MVSB is giving local communities the opportunity to join in the celebration at one more Open House event this year:

Moultonborough Corner Office - Friday, Nov. 6, 1 -3 p.m., Route 25 in Moultonborough Corner.

Meredith Village Savings Bank is an independent mutual savings bank with 11 offices serving individuals, families, businesses, organizations and towns around Lake Winnipesaukee and the Plymouth area. MVSB has offices in Alton, Ashland, Center Harbor, Gilford, Laconia, Meredith, Moultonborough, Plymouth, and Wolfeboro.
