The Gilmanton Year Round Library is hosting a presentation by Paul Callahan,
Lakes Region Thermal Scan. Tuesday, Oct. 20 at 6:30 PM. Paul will be there
to talk about energy audits and energy saving tips that we all could use
this winter. Please join us on the 20th to learn more about energy savings.
The Library is located across from Gilmanton Elementary School on Rte 140.
The Annual 4-H Cookie and Candy Bar Sale is held during the
month of October. Several varieties are NOW available for only $3.75
per package. Candy Bars are $1.00 each. Your support to the 4-H

Gilmanton Year-Round Library Events
Free blood pressure checks will be available to all comers at the
Gilmanton Year-Round Library on Saturday morning, October 17 from 10 - 11
o’clock.
Story Times continue on the first and third Saturdays of the month
through December. Jenny Stevens and Melissa Caldon are the
storytellers. Stories begin at 10:15 a.m. The next story time is Saturday,
October 17.
On Tuesday evening, October 20 at 6:30 p.m. the Gilmanton Energy
Committee will present an energy conservation program featuring Thermal
Scan.
On Thursday evening, November 5 at 6:30 p.m. the GYRLA will host Michael
Sullivan who will talk about boys and books. Michael has been the library
director of the Weeks Memorial Library (Greenland, NH), Wiggin
Memorial Library (Stratham, NH), and the Nichols Memorial Library (Center
Harbor, NH). He is present on the Adjunct Faculty of Simmons College
Graduate School of Library and Information Science. He has written
several books for and about boys (fiction and non-fiction) and many articles
on this and other reading and library related topics. Michael is a very
popular guest speaker at schools and libraries.

Hilary Hartford Receives Tom Fox Treatment Scholarship Award
Hilary Hartford from Gilmanton is the Adolescent Substance
Abuse Treatment Case Manager for Child and Family Services of NH.
She works in the Laconia office.
This award is given annually by New Futures-NH to recognize a NH
individual who has shown excellence, leadership and advocacy in the field of
substance abuse treatment. Hilary, who is only 24 years old is close to
completing a Masters in Mental Health Counseling from Southern NH
University. She “has a passion for early intervention and working with
kids”. Hilary is a member of the Council’s JJAC network.
Harvest Service To Be Held At Smith Meeting House
On Sunday October 18, 2009, at 4:00 p.m., a Harvest Service will be held
at the Smith Meeting House located on Meeting House Road in Gilmanton, NH.
This harvest service will celebrate the harvest season and give an
opportunity for all who attend to support the Gilmanton Community Church
Food Pantry. We ask all attending to bring two food items that can be stored
at the Gilmanton Community Church Food Pantry, such as boxes or cans of
food. In addition, the collection for the service will be donated to the
pantry.
The Reverend Sidney Lovett will be our guest minister. Musical
arrangements will be planned by Jane Cormier, founder/director of the Lakes
Region Opera Company. Rob Peck, music director of St. Katharine Drexel
Church in Alton, will be our organist.
The Service will be on Sunday, October 18, 2009, at 4:00 p.m. A Pot Luck
Supper will be held in the meeting room following the service. Meat,
beans, and all condiments will be provided. Anyone wishing to bring an
additional dish, such as a salad or casserole, may do so. It would be
greatly appreciated.

The Smith Meeting House is located off Route 140, 3 miles east of route
107, between the centers of the Gilmanton Village and the Gilmanton Iron
