We all know that the
Epsom Public Library has a wealth of items available for our
community: books, videos, magazines, as well as events and programs,
but did you know that the library has free passes to great local
venues?
Residents can check out
these passes to SEE Science Center, Strawberry Banke,
McAuliffe-Shepard Discovery Center, NH Telephone Museum, and the NH
Historical Society/Museum(this pass was a special donation by
patrons). What a wonderful perk! Stop by the library to
reserve your passes to treat your family to a fun day out!
The Epsom Friends of the Library purchase passes every year for our
community to enjoy and this spring will be purchasing a pass for the
NH State Parks! Special thank you to all our great citizens
who support the Friends of the Library’s mums sale, bake sales,
and events! Friends of the Library is always happy to welcome
new members!
The Epsom Library will be
showing Charles Dickens’ “A Christmas Carol” at their Movie Matinee
Wednesday, December 12 at 1:30. George C. Scott stars as
miserly and greedy Ebenezer Scrooge who is visited by his former
partner’s ghost and three specters from the past, present and future
all of whom force him to soul-search. Scott gives a powerful
performance in this heartwarming telling of this holiday classic.
The next gathering of the
Chichester-Epsom-Pittsfield Libraries Memory Café will be held at
2:00pm on Monday December 10th.. Local caregivers and folks
living with memory loss are invited to come and enjoy a celebration
of holiday music, creating decorations, and refreshments.
Letter
Dear Town of Epsom,
I am a resident of 5
years and have two small children. We moved here because Epsom is a
great location and we also heard great things about the
elementary/middle school. I didn’t know of the half day kindergarten
until after having my son and assumed by the time he went, there
would be full day. As his time for kindergarten nears I find it
upsetting that this still isn’t the case in Epsom.
My husband and I are both
contributing members of society. We both need to work to support our
family, which is reality for most families. I am a dental hygienist
and my husband is a police officer. Neither of us can leave midday
to pick up our children to bring them to another location for child
care.
I had one patient who
recently moved here from out of state and was SHOCKED that full day
kindergarten is not standard. Another patient had a child in half
day kindergarten and moved to Bow where there is full day and found
his child is very behind because he wasn’t learning what he should
have been in half day. He had to get caught up with extra help.
Another one of my patients is an Epsom resident who spent her lunch
hour picking her daughter up from ECS to bring to East Side Learning
Center, she stayed at work late to compensate the extra long lunch.
We may want to move
houses in the next couple years and would love to stay in Epsom.
Hopefully full day kindergarten gets passed so we can stay in this
great town!
Our children need this.
Our families need this. Please consider casting your vote in favor
of full day kindergarten.
Thanks,
Megan Drouin
