Epsom Food Pantry
Good Morning! Well, we
have a busy few weeks ahead of us before the holidays arrive.
Saturday, we have a pick from the Boy Scout Food Drive at the
Concord Airport. Sounds wonderful.
We are now preparing for
Thanksgiving food and turkey distribution. I am going to say again
to all our members, YOU MUST MUST pickup on Saturday November 18th
between 10:00 AM and 12:00. I cannot emphasize how difficult it is
to try and handle orders that have not been picked up.
If you cannot make it,
then you need to have someone come for you. I hope I do not sound
like a nag. Well I am. Please.
Enough of that, onto good
stuff. We had a nice contribution from the Werner ladies. They
are so good and faithful to our Pantry. As usual, our mystery
donor keeps the eggs coming and our milk from Sandy at the Natural
Food Store as well. As you know, our Ken is home mending from
his accident and boy is he missed. Armand will be glad to have him
back but as I told you, Norm Yeaton has stepped up to the plate and
I am so grateful. Our JR, who mans the Pantry with June, Eve, and
Alice, is now helping with pickup. Those ladies, let me tell you,
are super.
Until next time,
Priscilla
Letter To The Editor
In modern history, no
President of the United States has ever personally interviewed a
single candidate for one of 93 US District Attorney positions. Since
the Justice Dept is meant to be completely independent, the
“interviewing buck” stopped at the Attorney General’s office. Until
Trump.
US District Attorney
candidates for the District of Columbia, 2 in New York plus the
District where Maralargo is located are being interviewed personally
by President Donald Trump. Hmmm.
It has been said that the
Head of the Justice Dept is not called “Secretary of Justice”,
but rather the Attorney General of the United States of America for
good reason.

Epsom
Letter
To my constituents in
Allenstown, Epsom, and Pittsfield,
This week, my committee
met to recommend all our retained bills to the full House.
We unanimously agreed to
pass HB101, on certification requirements for solid waste operators,
after amending it to extend the cycle to two years, and exempting
volunteers. HB192, requiring the department of corrections to submit
more of its rules through the JLCAR process, went to interim study,
17-0, while the department works through its current rulemaking. My
HB298, on the mechanical licensing board, was amended and approved,
17-0, after all but the improvements in the plumber apprentice
requirements was removed.
HB593, converting some
department of corrections positions from retirement Group I to Group
II (police/fire/corrections) was debated for a while. An amendment
to cut the forty-odd positions in the original bill to fourteen was
adopted, 13-4, but the motion to pass the bill failed, 5-12, for a
variety of reasons. Mine was that I preferred to settle this issue
by adopting an amendment that changed the process of setting the
classification to one that focused on the duties and requirements
for the specific job, not the title. We voted, 15-2, to keep it for
further study.
HB92, adopting a list of
building codes in the 2015 version, rather than 2009, was also
debated and finally recommended to be killed, 10-7. HB168, updating
the fire code, was also debated and killed, 10-7, not because of the
fire code itself, but because of the 15 new codes it incorporated by
reference. Finally, HB366, repealing the requirement that overtime
applied to a pension in the last five years before retirement be
limited to the career average, was also debated and killed, 11-5.
