Epsom Food Pantry

Good Morning everyone.  Wow, what a busy week. What with food deliveries and the day at elections (glad that is over with, now to the next one), we have been busy.

Our donations have been very appreciated. Some folks want us not to mention  names, so we thank you and to our good friends, the Werner sisters, who remember us monthly and to Nancy and Phil Yeaton, many many thanks for your generous donation.

I chatted with Ken this morning and he suggested that you folks who want Thanksgiving Baskets need to sign up on your next visit to the Pantry. I will let you know the deadline date as soon as I get it.

I do want to thank all the people who have given us veggies from their gardens and to all who have given us eggs and milk, you are the BEST.

Until next time,

Priscilla

Letter

To my constituents in Allenstown, Epsom, and Pittsfield, Thank you for your votes in the primary election. Of course, with no opposition, it was just a gesture of support, but I’m glad to have it.

I’ve decided to run for Speaker of the House for the next session. Our current speaker has been very divisive, ever since he won the election with most of the Republicans voting against him – but all the Democrats voting for him. The Republicans in the House have spent these two years fighting among themselves, with the more conservative and/or libertarian representatives split from the speaker’s leadership team. The Speaker and his majority leader have proposed amendments to the party platform, removing all the detailed positions that he fails to support (such as pro-life, opposed to taxes and fees, and with the legislature retaining its position relative to the other branches of government.) Even more important, in this primary, the speaker and his PAC to elect House Republicans, has campaigned against incumbent representatives who don’t support the Speaker. In contested primaries across the state, this PAC sent out mailers supporting some incumbents in a district, or even the challengers to incumbent Republicans. In Epsom and Pittsfield, his mailer urged votes for John Klose and David Palfrey, but not the incumbent Michael Brewster. That’s unacceptable to me: if the speaker wishes to do something like that as an individual, it’s his prerogative, but fundraising for “a Republican House” PAC and then using those funds to oppose some House Republicans is simply wrong.

Epsom Bible Church AWANA Clubs

Awana Clubs at Epsom Bible Church will begin our 2016-2017 season on Thursday night September 15th. This will be our 30th year of having Awana Clubs and we are thankful for the things God has accomplished through this program in previous years.

For those of you who may not be familiar, Epsom Bible Awana Clubs are a branch of Awana International which started in the early 1950’s in a Chicago church and has grown into a worldwide program teaching boys and girls the Word of God in unique ways. Awana Clubs offered at Epsom Bible include Cubbies for girls and boys ages 3 and 4, Sparks for girls and boys in school grades K-2, as well as Truth and Training for girls and boys in grades 3 through 6.

Each Awana night consists of a game time, handbook time, and council time. Once or twice a month we plan a special theme night. We try to make our clubs as fun and exciting as possible. During Council time one of our leaders or a special guest speaker presents a message from the Bible, and awards are presented to those clubbers who have earned them for completing handbook work.

Our Clubs are open to all children in the Epsom area, and we would love to have your children attend. You do not need to be a member of, or attend, Epsom Bible Church, for your children to attend. Come to Club on the 15th or any Thursday evening thereafter between 6:15 and 6:30 PM. Club starts at 6:30 and we end the evening at 8:00. Epsom Bible Church is at 398 Black Hall Road, approximately 3/4 mile past the Epsom Central School on the same side of the road (look for the big sign out front). If you have any questions or would like more information call Kim or Paul Sanborn at 798-5050 or email at: [email protected] . You may also check the Church website www.ebc.nh.com for more Club info and calendar.
