Movie matinee once again
on Wednesday, December 14 at 1:30 at the Epsom Public Library. The
film being shown is “Mr. Church,” starring Eddie Murphy in a
dramatic role. The film tells the story of a unique friendship that
develops when a little girl and her dying mother retain the services
of a talented cook, Mr. Church. What begins as a six-month
arrangement instead spans 15 years and creates a family bond that
lasts forever. This film is inspired by a true friendship. The
Hollywood Reporter says that ”Murphy is a revelation.”
Epsom Food Pantry
Good afternoon everyone.
It has been a busy week in the Pantry. We have received a goodly
amount of donations which will put us in good shape for the
holidays.
I want to thank the
wonderful boys and girls from Epsom Central School for the great
variety of food they collected for the Pantry. Wonderful, and lets
not forget the Suncook Vet Clinic who has had a box going for a
couple of months. Dr. Reeves brought us down three big boxes full of
goodies. Kelly Beauchesne, Accountant from Epsom Circle, who had a
walk in our behalf brought in bags of food. Thank you all so much.
Now a little serious
business. We are unable to accept homemade food. We can only use
food that has been made in a commercial kitchen. Unfortunate that we
cannot, but those are the guidelines we must follow. Oh and I do not
want to end without a special thanks to the men from Market Basket
who are so good to us in getting us hamburg in the one pound size on
short notice.
Until next time,
Priscilla

Epsom Board Of Selectmen
Updates
November 2016, the
Governor held a conference call to update everyone on the “drought.”
The State (and locals) is working on “awareness” and/or water ban
recommendations. Tips on how to recommend awareness were mentioned,
such as “conserve and preserve.” The Governor is looking to minimize
the impact (especially before winter freeze) by public awareness of
“conserve and preserve.”
As we all may know by
now, Webster Park has received substantial damage from the wind/rain
storm that hit quickly on Sunday, September 11, 2016. Over 90 trees
came down. Not only was there tree damage (and a mess to clean up),
the small pavilion on the hill was damaged. We would like to thank
everyone that participated in the clean-up with Gary Perry. Bartlett
Tree also helped tremendously and worked quickly to have the park
safe again. The park was cleaned and the events went on as
scheduled!
In October and November,
the trees that posed some danger, have been logged. It changes the
look of the park right now, but the Town does have a “replanting”
plan and will work on making the park beautiful in the spring!
The 2016-2017 Budget
season is moving ahead – it is that time of year! The Selectmen
have already met with all the Department Heads and submitted their
budget report to the Budget Committee. All Budget meeting hearings
are open to the public; please see postings at Post Office, Town
Office and our web site.
It was with regret that
the Board accepted the resignation of Debbie Tibbetts from the
office as the Assessing Assistant. Debbie has been employed with
the Town for 8 years. The Board and staff thanked Debbie for her
dedication and wished her luck in her new adventures!
Also, with regret, the
Board accepted the resignation of John Dodge from the Planning
Board. John has served on the Board for about 7 years and most
recently as the “Chair.” Thank you John for your time and service!
With the possibility of
funds from the MtBE Grants, it is with hopes that we are closer to
reality of having a water main for the encouragement of new
businesses to come into Town.
We do recognize and
encourage Economic Growth to help with our Tax Rates!
Mr. Crowley recently
donated his family’s collection of old Town Reports. It is
interesting to compare the reports! Here is a “bit-of-history” – in
1955 Hazel Steele was the Town Clerk! Back in the day – you went to
register your vehicles at Hazel’s home. You could sit in her house
on the bench and socialize with others while the wood stove kept all
warm – even in July!
