Award Winning Fitness Bootcamp Celebrates 4th Anniversary
Get Fit NH Thrives By Helping Clients Reach Their Health And Fitness
Goals And Having A Blast Doing It
For all too many people, exercise isn’t something they look forward
to. Boring workouts, crowded gyms, and confusing machines just don’t
seem worth it. On May 8, 2012, Get Fit NH celebrated four years of
successfully proving to their clients that it just doesn’t have to
be that way.
Nancy Carlson, head coach of Get Fit NH’s Epsom training facility,
explains. "When a new person walks through the door they are blown
away by how different we are from a typical gym. Instead of a room
full of machines and strangers, they are welcomed and introduced to
the rest of the team." Coach Nancy, as she is called by her clients,
continues "We want them to understand that we are a family and in
this together."
Get Fit NH specializes in what they call "Group Personal Training."
The concept includes exercise and movement patterns that are
individualized to each client, regardless of current condition or
ability.
Dean Carlson is head coach at Get Fit NH’s Concord facility, and
responsible for writing the training programs. "Good coaches know
that writing a great training program is part science and part art"
Dean explains. "The science is knowing what a client needs to reach
their goals, and the art is keeping exercise interesting and fun.
Nobody likes getting hurt, and nobody likes boring."
"We are very grateful to be celebrating our four year anniversary"
Nancy says "We have clients who have been with us since day one,
seen us grow, and supported us every step of the way. Our coaching
staff is top shelf. It goes without saying we wouldn’t be
celebrating this anniversary without them."
Get Fit NH was recognized in March as the Best Gym in Concord for
the 3rd year in a row, and Coach Nancy was chosen "Best of the Best
Fitness Trainer" for the 2nd consecutive year by the readers of the
Hippo Press.

Rep. Peter Schmidt Of Dover Speaks At Epsom Democrats Dinner
State Representative Peter Schmidt of Dover was guest speaker at the
Epsom Democrats monthly dinner party held Friday, May 18, 2012.
Representative Schmidt spoke about the radical libertarian faction
which has taken over the NH State House, particularly the House of
Representatives. He also noted eight current Republican State
Senators who have declared they will not run for the next term. A
very informative question/answer period was enjoyed by more than
twenty attendees including a discussion on recruitment of Democratic
Party candidates.
May’s dinner party was held at the home of Norman Yeaton and Miriam
Cahill-Yeaton. The next meeting of Epsom Democrats will be held June
15. Guest speaker will be Jackie Cilley who is running for
Democratic Party’s nomination for Governor.

Nauseated?
Newark, New Jersey’s Democratic Mayor Corey Booker said he is
"nauseated" at the Obama for President campaign for making Mitt
Romney’s involvement in Bain Capital an issue. Pardon me, Corey, but
it is Romney himself who boasts Bain Capital as his claim to fame
and premier qualification for being elected President of the United
States!
Take an antacid, Corey while I share my experience about literally
throwing up from similar "Bain" tactics! Another vulture capitalist
took over my former employer TWA. Trans World Airlines was the first
airline to win the J D Powers Award of Excellence for service, was
rich in assets, had money in the bank, huge pension fund, an
excellent growth plan. "My" vulture capitalist, Carl Icahn, cut my
compensation in half (as he did eventually to 25,000 other TWA
employees), raided our pension fund, sold off assets among other
dastardly deeds. For eight years, TWA’s vulture (some are now
calling them vampires) sucked everything out of TWA he could. During
his tenure, vulture/vampire Carl Icahn created 2 bankruptcies for
TWA and left it hopelessly in debt leading to a 3rd bankruptcy and
its final demise.
I have all the respect in the world for venture capitalists. Those
who take a risk on a good idea and good people. Or those who roll up
their sleeves and turn a company around. "Vulture" capitalists?
Icahn? Boesky? Romney? In my opinion, they size up employees,
companies and communities no differently than they would herds of
cattle. I don’t like being vulgar, but sometimes it’s necessary:
"My" vulture capitalist literally "made me puke". Ya’ know what I
mean? All that anxiety, sadness, anger, fear! Depression.
Every election is about the future. Vulture capitalism. The 99%.
Government regulation. All, necessary issues of debate for this
political season. Let’s have the debate.

Epsom
Letter
To my constituents in Allenstown, Epsom, and Pittsfield:
This week the House and Senate are negotiating the final differences
in their bills. My committee, since we deal with few major policy
issues, has only a few such committees: some to agree on the exact
wording of a bill, and some to fix a problem that came up very late
in the session. No fireworks are expected!
Three constitutional amendments are in committees of conference:
CACR6, requiring a 3/5 vote to raise taxes or fees; CACR12,
education funding; and CACR13, prohibiting an income tax. CACR6 was
amended by the Senate to be a state budget cap rather than a
super-majority to raise taxes, which is a different way to control
the growth of government; the two houses are hoping to convince each
other to go with one or the other. The other two agree in principle
but differ in the wording.
HB1221, allowing the BET/BPT estimates to be combined, was amended
by the Senate to add a redefinition of the interest and dividends
tax to conform to federal tax law. This would simplify tax
calculations – the New Hampshire definitions are antiquated and very
confusing – but might lose significant revenue from "distributions."
HB1418 increases the income threshold to file the BET; the Senate
merely extended the life of a study committee on business taxes, so
I’m not sure why the House didn’t agree.
HB1383, a residency requirement to receive in-state tuition, again
agrees in principle but the House version requires the university to
verify residence; the Senate simply requires an affidavit from the
student. HB1490 repeals the Region Greenhouse Gas Initiative, in
2015 in the House version, or after two other states agree to do so,
for the Senate.
Interested readers can email me for my newsletter, with more details
than I can fit in a letter.
