Food Pantry Partakes In The 14th Annual
Feinstein Challenge
to Fight Hunger See What You Can Do To Help!
Each year,
Alan Shawn Feinstein divides $1 million amongst participating hunger
agencies like the Loudon Food Pantry in order to inspire the public
to donate during the months where we run dangerously low on food and
funds.
To be a part of this effort, donate food or funds between
March 1st and April 30th and note that it’s for the Feinstein
Challenge (household and clothing items are not allowed as part of
this challenge). Without noting your donation, it can not be
included in this challenge.
In 2010 (our first year with
this challenge) we received $256 from Alan Shawn Feinstein. We
collected $1,120 in funds and $1,331 in food that we would not
normally receive during March and April. The more we collect
towards this challenge, the bigger the check from Mr. Feinstein.
Donations can be dropped off or mailed to: Loudon Food
Pantry, 30 Chichester Rd., Unit D, Loudon, NH 03307. (Please
make checks out to Loudon Food Pantry)
I’ve listed our drop off
locations below as well.
Or donations can be made through our
website at LoudonFoodPantry.org. A separate donate button for
the Feinstein Challenge will be available from March 1st through
April 30th.
We have collection bins at the following locations.
Any donations in these bins will be counted towards the Feinstein
Challenge. Any food collection bins will be counted towards
the Challenge as well.
The following list shows the business, the
town, and collection type accepted. • Ivory Rose, Loudon, Food &
Funds. • Boars Tavern, Loudon, Funds. • Care Pharmacy, Epsom,
Funds. • Evans Expressmart, Epsom, Funds. • Red Roof Inn,

Check
out our website at LoudonFoodPantry.org to see our progress for this
challenge. It will be updated daily during March and April.
Please help us to top last year’s collections for this challenge.
Remember, even small donations can add up quickly so please give
whatever you can afford.
Thank you very much for your continued
support!

Letter
To my constituents in Allenstown, Epsom, and Pittsfield: This
week my committee had to deal with the remaining bills assigned to
us. We first heard HB390, a final report of the committee on
committees that discontinued eight commissions and reinstated
twenty. This bill was so clear, and we were so aware of the work
done by the committee on committees, that we voted immediately to
recommend it. HB350, a 43 section update on the duties of the fiscal
committee was also heard: this one we immediately voted to retain,
since there was barely time to read it, let alone resolve questions
brought up at the hearing.
HB62, on the building code, was voted
to be killed since its content was combined with HB137. HB137, on
the fire code and building code, was a sad case: the subcommittee
had done an excellent job of resolving the building code and fire
code issues and brought in a lengthy amendment. However, the very
beginning of the amendment addressed the fire marshal’s rule- making
authority under existing statute – and the rule experts on the
committee objected to that section! Once the problem was pointed
out, we couldn’t pass the amendment along, so we voted to retain the
bill.
We debated dental hygienists’ regulation, considering
HB452, creating a new, separate board for hygienists, and HB565,
creating a committee of the dental board which would have
rule-making authority for hygienists. The hygienists have been
struggling with the dental board for years, but the professions are
intertwined, and my committee is resistant to creating new boards.
Finally, we voted to recommend HB565, as an appropriate first step,
and to kill HB452 until we can see how well HB565 works out.
Anyone interested in what is going on in the State House is invited
to email or call me. Anyone who wants more information than I can
fit into a letter in the Sun should email me for my newsletter.
