The
First Congregational Church in Pittsfield is very fortunate to have
a twenty-five piece set of hand bells, given in “Loving Memory of
John B. Varney.” On Sunday, July 18th, a special service of
dedication will be held and the “JuBellation” Bell Choir will offer
several selections during the 9:30 a.m. Worship Service. The public
is cordially invited to attend this service of worship and
dedication.
The
Town of Epsom will be hosting an area Suncook River Avulsion meeting
for surrounding towns, their residents and elected officials and
candidates, as well as State Officials from various State
Departments and elected offices.
The
meeting will be held July 19, at the Epsom Central School, 282 Black
Hall Road in Epsom beginning at 6:30 p.m. in the gymnasium.
Reminder
The
Epsom Town Band will be presenting its first concert at Webster Park
on Friday, July 16th, at 7:30 p.m. Mark your calendars and invite
your family and friends to an old-fashioned concert in the park. For

Epsom Library News
Thursday night, July 15th from 7:00 - 8:30 the Chichester Town
Library we will be starting a new Book Group. Materhorn is the
primary book of discussion, but just this once, we will allow
discussion of any book about the Vietnam War. We especially want to
invite any veterans to come whether the book as been read or not.
Jim Pappas, who himself is a Vietnam vet, will lead the discussion.
On
Wed, July 21st at 6:30 p.m. the library will have a special Night
Time Story Time featuring “Sleeping Beauty.” Plan to enjoy stories
and songs with one of Disney’s favorite characters. Dress as your
favorite prince/princess and don’t forget your camera! Call the

Our
second Summer Reading event is on Monday, July 19th at 6:30 at the
library. Melissa Clay will be hosting a Wacky Science Magic Show and
Activities Night. Sounds like a lot of fun. If you haven’t signed up
and started to keep track of your reading hours, it is not too late.
We need your help to get 5,000 hours.
Story Time at the library continues through the summer on Tuesdays
at 2 p.m. and Thursdays at 3:30 p.m. Also join the “Lego” club
Thursdays at 3:30 p.m.
Epsom Meeting House Work Day Submitted By:
The Friends Of The Meeting House And The Meeting House Stewardship
Committee
There will be an Epsom Meeting House Work day on Saturday, July 24
at 8:30 a.m. to finish time. There is a list of small projects that
need to get done for varied skill levels, even no-skill! This
workday is a coordinated effort of members of the Friends of the
Meeting House and the Meeting House Stewardship Committee. All
volunteers must be 18 years or older and willing to sign a release
form. If you have safety glasses, work gloves, and/or a hard hat,
please bring them with you and mark them with your name. Hand-held
demolition tools are also appreciated. Skilled Team leaders are also
wanted. If you would like to participate, please show up at the
Meeting House on Saturday, July 24th at 8:30. You can also arrive
later in the morning or just come for a few hours. All help is
appreciated and all volunteer hours may count toward matching funds
for future grants! Thank you for your help!
Obituaries
Mary G. Quimby
Epsom - Mary G. Quimby died Saturday,
July 3, 2010 at Epsom Health Care Center at the age of 95.
Mary was born in Chichester to the late Grace Lillian Runnells and
William Ira Runnells on March 29, 1915.
She
worked as a clerk for the Treasury Dept. for the State of New
Hampshire for 30 years. She was a member of the Chichester Methodist
Church and the Chichester Grange.
She
was predeceased by her husband Russell William Quimby; her son,
William Russell; a daughter, Beverly Ann Stevens and a
granddaughter, Terry Stevens.
She
is survived by 2 daughters, Barbara Joyce Sargent, and Nellie Linda
Sinclair and her husband Ronald; two grandchildren, Mark Stevens and
Ronald Sargent; two great-grandchildren, Kendra Stevens and Ian
Stevens; a sister, Nellie Mitchell; a niece, Mary Jo Dane; a nephew,
James Mitchell, Jr.; and family friend, Tonya Hannafon.
A
funeral service was held at the Bennett Funeral Home Chapel,
Concord, on Tuesday, July 6, 2010.
Interment followed at Leavitt Cemetery in Chichester.
Memorial donations may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
The
Bennett Funeral Home of Concord was in charge of the arrangements.
