Reminder Fall Clothing Swap Epsom Bible
Church
In an effort to help manage the cost of clothing for our
community families, the Epsom Bible Church will be holding a free
clothing swap on Saturday, September 26th, from 9-12 noon at 398
Blackhall Road in Epsom.
You may bring donated clothing beginning at 8 a.m.
Call Joanne Randall at 344-8843 for more information or if you
are interested in volunteering.
Ivy Green Rebekah Lodge #36 would like to thank everyone who
donated pies for this year’s Old Home Day Supper. The supper was
very well attended and everyone enjoyed the pies for dessert! Also,
a special thank you to all our members who helped slice and serve
the pies.
Epsom’s Unit 112 American Legion Auxiliary
Once, again, members of Elwood O. Wells, Unit 112, American
Legion Auxiliary could be found serving sno-cones in Webster Park on
Old Home Day. Many people stopped to support the group, for which
the Unit is grateful. Added this year was a generous, overflowing
raffle basket from which all proceeds will be donated to support the
Pease Greeters. To date, the Unit has donated over $700.00 to
sponsor hospitality tables for the troops coming and going through
Pease Air Base. The Red, White, and Blue Basket was won by Rene
Berube. The Unit thanks all those who supported that project as they
work toward raising funds for a future donation to Pease Greeters.
Some members are knitting and crocheting helmet hats that are
sent to soldiers to wear for comfort under helmets. Many are being
sent to Afghanistan.
The Post expects to hold a supper on September 19 so women of
the Unit will again offer homemade desserts.
The next meeting of the Auxiliary will be held at the Legion
Hall in Short Falls on September 14 at 7:00 p.m. Discussion will
continue about upcoming fundraisers. Prospective members are always
welcome. The more members the more volunteerism is possible for
benefit of veterans, young people, and the community.
Valley Artisans Artist For The Month Of September
Deborah Fine, of Henniker, has always had a deep love for
working and creating with her hands. She worked as a preschool
teacher, was a part time puppeteer and started to make jewelry for
friends and family after studying at the New Hampshire Institute of
Arts.
After retiring from teaching, she decided to take her passion
for creating jewelry to a new level. Her silver wire wrapping
designs are beautiful and unique. She uses many different types of
stones to accent her earrings, necklaces and bracelets. She is now
selling in many boutiques across New Hampshire, and in New York and
Florida.
Come to Valley Artisans and sign up for our free raffle, one of
Debbie’s beautiful pieces of jewelry. To view the raffle item go to
www.valleyartisansnh.com where you will also see our other
talented artisans.
We are open Wednesday thru Sunday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. We have

Letter
To my constituents in Allenstown, Epsom, & Pittsfield:
Legislative business is picking up again, now that summer is almost
over. I’ve been appointed to two committees, one created by this
year’s budget bill to examine all the regulatory boards and
committees and evaluate if they can be consolidated or reorganized
to save the State money. With 48 boards under consideration, there
are bound to be some savings available! The other committee is
evaluating the regulations on wood and pellet furnaces and boilers,
with the intent of making it easier to import high efficiency, low
emission pellet boilers from Europe. They have a thriving market
there, with many different manufacturers producing pellet boilers.
These boilers are based on the European Union standard, which is not
identical to the US standard, and therefore do not meet the exact
requirements of New Hampshire statutes and building codes. The two
standards are very compatible and equally safe, so the committee is
looking to modify the statutes to allow the use of these boilers.
The other current legislative activity is preparing bills for
the 2010 session. All regular bills are to be submitted during the
week of September 21-25. I’m not planning on sponsoring any
significant bills, since my committee work is time consuming, but I
will co-sponsor some efficiency improvements. I am willing to
sponsor a bill for a constituent, if anyone has something that needs
legislative action. Any constituent who’d like to discuss the
upcoming legislative session with me is invited to meet at my home,
on Friday, September 18, between 4 to 7 pm. The address is 700
Suncook Valley Highway, Epsom.
Anyone interested in what’s going
on at the State House is invited to email or call me.
