Fort Mountain Trailwinders

On Thursday, July 16th the Fort Mountain Trailwinders installed their first donated bridge on the multi-use recreational trail system in Epsom. Within minutes of the ribbon-cutting ceremony, a biker rode through the new bridge.

The 16 foot bridge, donated by Harber Construction, was placed over a wet spot on the multi-use recreational trails behind the Epsom Bible Church on Black Hall Road in Epsom. The bridge was built by members of the Fort Mountain Trailwinders, Epsom’s snowmobile club.

The ceremony honoring Joe and Lori Harnois of Harber Construction for their generous donation was attended by members of the snowmobile club as well as representatives of the church. Epsom Bible Church, who owns the land where the bridge was placed, has been a supportive landowner for many years.

A plaque has been attached to the bridge as as reminder to all hikers, bikers, horseback riders and snowmobilers that local businesses such as Harber Construction support the community through their sponsorship of recreational activities.

Epsom Historical Association

Submitted By Virginia Drew, Association Member
The Epsom Historical Association debuted its new cookbook “Kitchen Memories” on Sunday July 12th, complete with samples of selected recipes, at the Epsom Public Library. One hundred of the cookbooks were sold during the day, and the remainder were sold within days of the event.

The 170 page cookbook features submitted and other recipes along with related historical photos from the Association’s digital archives, with some old remedies from various sources.

Complete with a helpful index, the book is divided into seven categories: Appetizers & Dips: Breakfast, Brunch and Breads; Cookies and Bars; Desserts; Main Dishes and Casseroles; Salads, Sides, Soups and Stews; and finally, This & That. The book also has an index, a list of contributors and list of credits, common recipe substitutions and measuring equivalents chart.

The committee, which completed the elegant in appearance cookbook, included Carole Brown, Margaret Porter, Nancy Claris, Mary Frambach, Betsy Bosiak, and graphic design, Bridget Remare.

The outstanding response to this wonderful cookbook has forced a second printing to be ready by Epsom Old Home Day. Copies can also be found in select area shops. Cost of “Kitchen Memories” is $14.95 For more information contact the Epsom Public Library at 736-9920 or the Epsom Historical Association at [email protected].
