Epsom Public Library News
The Epsom Public Library will be hosting a Holiday American Girl
Tea Party on Saturday, November 14th at 1:30 p.m. Girls and their
guests are invited to a fun afternoon of proper English tea,
complete with finger sandwiches, desserts and tea/punch. Dress up in
your favorite holiday outfit and bring your favorite doll or stuffed
animal. The American Girl doll was created in 1986 to educate and
entertain young girls about American history. The library will also
be having a raffle for the new Historical American Girl Doll,
Rebecca Ruben, complete with a handmade outfit made by Nancy Yeaton.
Tickets will be available at the library. The tea is free but
reservations are required as seating will be limited. For

Story Time continues on Tuesdays at 2 p.m. and Thursdays at 3:30
p.m. The children listen to stories, sing songs and enjoy simple
crafts. November themes will include the Pilgrims, Native Americans
and Thanksgiving.
Toddler Time continues on Wednesdays at 10:30 a.m. Library hours
are Monday-Thursday, 10-7 and Saturday, 9-1.
Valley Artisans Current Events
Florence Parlangeli and Donna Tracy are our Artisans for the
month of November.
Flo specializes in the art of jewelry design and makes mostly
necklaces and earrings. She uses pastel and eclectic beads to create
amazing one of a kind creations you would be proud to own and wear.
Flo is also a very talented landscape painter and has a few of her
paintings at our shop.
Donna Tracy is our soap, lotion, bath salts and oils specialist.
Her display is colorful and fragrant, her soaps are great for women
and men; she also has soaps for children with little toys in the
center, a great way to get the kids to wash!
Both artisans will be donating an item to the Free Raffle at
Valley Artisans. Go to our website at:

On November 7th and 8th, NH Made Open Doors will be happening at
Valley Artisans. Many goodies to be eaten, and a free gift with
purchase.

SAU #53 Preschool Child Screening
The SAU #53 School Districts will be sponsoring a
Preschool Child Screening for children living in the SAU #53
Districts of Allenstown, Chichester, Deerfield, Epsom and
Pembroke on October 29, 2009, at the Pembroke Hill School. The
Preschool Child Screening is designed to locate children, three to
six years of age, who have special needs that may require special
attention. Professionals will screen overall development in motor,
cognitive and language skills.

Obituaries
Philip A. Tumey
Epsom - Philip A. Tumey, 68, of Elm
Street, died Friday, Oct. 23, 2009, surrounded by his family, at
Concord Hospital after a short illness.
Born in Cohasset,
Mass., on June 3, 1941, he was the son of Philip D. and Daisy
(White) Tumey. He was a 1959 graduate of Cohasset High School
and spent most of his life in Massachusetts, moving to Epsom six
years ago.
Mr. Tumey had been employed as an auto mechanic
for several Dodge dealerships and auto parts stores. After his
retirement, Phil continued to work part time for Auto Parts
International as a delivery driver.
Proud of his military
service, he spent 23 years in the Massachusetts National Guard
1058th Transport Unit out of Hingham, Mass., and was called to
active duty in Kuwait in support of Operation Desert Shield /
Desert Storm. He was a member of the Elwood O. Wells American
Legion Post in Epsom.
He was also a member of the First
Congregational Church in Rockland, Mass., and the New Rye Union
Congregational Church in Epsom. In addition, he had volunteered
with various community activities, including the Rochester Soup
Kitchen and the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts. He enjoyed traveling
and, above all, being with his family.
Members of his family
include his wife of 46 years, Judith N. (Mowll) Tumey of Epsom;
a son, Glen Tumey of Taunton, Mass.; three daughters, Beth Sage
of Rockland, Heather Bullard and her husband, David, of
Marshfield, Mass., and Kirsten Guerrero and her husband, Arturo,
of Rockland; 11 grandchildren, Christie Tumey and her fiance,
Ryan Layton, Jenna, Kyle, Colin, Kelley, Ramona and Derrik Sage,
Tristan and Griffith Bullard, and Lydia and Garritt Guerrero;
two sisters, Jane Lindsey of Rockland and Elizabeth Blair of
Cohasset, Mass.; and nieces and nephews.
Services were held
Tuesday, October 27, 2009, at the New Rye Union
Congregational Church and Burial with military honors was held
at the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen.
