Letter

To Epsom Republican Voters,
My heartfelt thanks go out to the 204 of you who voted for me to represent you at the State Republican Party Convention, which will be held in Derry this year on Sunday, September 28th. Even though it was a low turnout and I ran unopposed, I still appreciate your support, and I will strive to keep the principles of fiscal responsibility and family values alive and well in our party platform when I vote on upcoming important bylaws.

I would also like to encourage even more of you, Republicans as well as Democrats and Independents, to vote this coming November 4th for fiscal responsibility and family values among candidates for state and federal offices. Thank you again.

Respectfully submitted,
Tom Langlais, Epsom

Epsom Bible Church AWANA Clubs

Awana Clubs at Epsom Bible Church will begin our 20008-09 season on Thursday night September 25th. This will be our 22nd year of having Awana Clubs and we are thankful for the things God has accomplished through this program in previous years.

For those of you who may not be familiar, Epsom Bible Awana Clubs are a branch of Awana International which started in the early 1950’s in a Chicago church and has grown into a worldwide program teaching boys and girls the Word of God in unique ways. Awana Clubs offered at Epsom Bible include Cubbies for girls and boys ages 3 and 4, Sparks for girls and boys in school grades K-2, as well as Truth and Training for girls and boys in grades 3 through 6.

Each Awana night consists of a game time, handbook time, and council time. Once or twice a month we plan a special theme night. We try to make our clubs as fun and exciting as possible. During Council time one of our leaders or a special guest speaker presents a message from the Bible, and awards are presented to those clubbers who have earned them for completing handbook work. If your children, or you, attended Awana in the past, you will find that most all of the handbooks have been recently updated.

Our Clubs are open to all children in the Epsom area, and we would love to have your children attend. You do not need to be a member of, or attend, Epsom Bible Church, for your children to attend. Come to Club on the 25th or any Thursday evening thereafter between 6:15 and 6:30 PM. Club starts at 6:30 and we end the evening at 8:00. Epsom Bible Church is at 398 Black Hall Road, approximately 3/4 mile past the Epsom Central School on the same side of the road ( look for the big sign out front ). If you have any questions or would like more information, please call Kim or Paul Sanborn at 798-5050 or email at: [email protected] .

Epsom Public Library

Patrons of the Epsom Public Library may now access and download audio books from the New Hampshire State Library.  Anyone who wishes to do so can go to http://nh.lib.overdrive.com, and browse through the selections.  Prior to checking out, the patron must call the Epsom Library for its code and library card number. Books can then be burned onto a CD or transferred to an MP3 Player.  The library also subscribes to Tumble Book Library. Just go to the library website, www.epsomlibrary.com, and click on Tumble Book Library. These services are free.

The Epsom Library also offers passes for the Christa McAuliffe Planetarium. The pass can be applied for up to $26.00 off the cost of the regular planetarium admission and is good for one patron, per day, towards one show per day.  Reservations are recommended but are not required.

The library also has passes to the See Science Center in Manchester, and discounted passes to Canterbury Shaker Village. For information call the library at 736-9920.

Mary Frambach’s arts and crafts class for children ages 7-12. The class begins October 20  and will be held at the Epsom Library on Mondays from 4-5:30 p.m.  It will continue through November24. The Epsom Public Library will be holding a basic photography class on Thursday, Oct. 9, from 7- 8:30 p.m. presented by Aaron Baker of Mulberry Creek Imagery. The class covers general photography techniques that improve the impact of your photos like composition, basic flash, and finding good shots in a scene. All the techniques work with either film or digital cameras. Please bring your camera and manual if you have it. For those who want to ask specific questions about how to use their cameras, please arrive by 6:30. Seating is limited, so make your reservation today by calling the Epsom Public Library at 736-9920.

Advance Care Planning Law.  UNH Cooperative Extension Family and Consumer Resource Educator Marilyn Sullivan and Spiritual Care Counselor Deborah Clark of Concord Hospital will present the program. Pre-registration, though not required, is requested and may be done by calling the Epsom Library at 736-9920 by October 14.  Anyone requiring special accommodations in order to attend is asked to call the Merrimack County Extension office at 225-5505 at least 15 days prior to the seminar.

Cathy Dyment, a Certified Identity Theft Risk Management Specialist, will present a workshop, “What You Don’t Know About Theft Identity” at the library on October 23 at 7:00 P.M.  Identity theft is the top consumer complaint reported to the Federal Trade Commission and isn’t related only to credit cards. Identity thieves also use the identities they’ve stolen to secure loans, bank accounts, driver’s licenses, and much more. Cathy is one of the first individuals in this area to receive this special certification, qualifying her to counsel individuals about identity theft.

Fall Clothing Swap

Epsom Bible Church

In an effort to help manage the cost of clothing for our community families, the Epsom Bible Church will be holding a free clothing swap on Saturday, September 27, from 9-12 noon at 398 Black Hall Road in Epsom.

You may bring donated clothing beginning at 9:00 am.

All clothes need to be clean and in good repair, and separated by size and gender.
Both adult and children’s clothing are accepted.

Clothes will be sorted and distributed to tables by the person dropping them off.
Once clothes have been sorted and distributed, you are free to begin gathering clothing in the sizes you need.

Any clothing left at the end of the swap will be delivered to a local charity drop off site. Volunteers for clothing drop-off would be appreciated.

Swap will run from 9:00-12:00 noon.

You do not need to make a clothing donation in order to take clothing for you and your family.

Call Joanne Randall at 736-4789 for more information or if you are interested in volunteering.
