REMINDER
The Chichester Central
School School Board is looking to fill 2 to 4 vacancies on the
Voluntary School Budget Advisory Group. The objective of the group
is to review and analyze the upcoming school budget and to present
their observation, suggestions and recommendations to the school
board.
This group is made up of
registered voters from the town of Chichester. Members will attend
School Board meetings from October - March in order to hear all
pertinent details as the budget develops.

made the primary elections run so smoothly on September 11.
The Chichester Heritage
Commission meets the third Thursday of every month. The September
meeting is Thursday, September 20, at 7 p.m. at the Library. The
meeting is open to the public and all are welcome.
The Down Under Book Store
at the Chichester Library will be open on Saturday, September 22,
2018, from 9 to 12. We have thousands of children and youth
books, mysteries, westerns, sci-fi, fiction and non-fiction books.
Also, puzzles, CDs, audios and DVDs. Come and get your winter
reading.
The Community Design
Charrette Team will meet on Monday, September 24th, at 7 p.m. in the
Historical Society Museum on Main Street. All are welcome to
attend.
Pepper Steak is on the
menu for the Free Community Supper on Wednesday, September 26, at
the Chichester United Methodist Parish Hall. These meals are served
twice a month, and all are welcome. Donations are gratefully
accepted and used to pay the costs of future suppers.

News
The library joins the
community in expressing our sorrow for the loss of Jeff Jordan.
His support of library programs was always appreciated, as was his
long-standing involvement with the community, particularly as a
member of the Board of Selectmen.
The Knitting Circle meets
every Wednesday afternoon at 3:30 p.m., unless otherwise noted,
under the facilitation of Sharon Pinckney. It is never too
early to start your holiday projects.
Preschool Story and Craft
Hour is tomorrow, September 13th, at 10:45 a.m. Bring your
littler ones and join in the fun.
Come and enjoy “Coloring
& Coffee” (and conversation) from 10:30-11:30 a.m. on Tuesday
mornings. Don’t let the name mislead you. There will also be
tea available, along with doughnuts/snacks. Coloring sheets
are being provided by the Library. This activity is known to
release stress, as well as providing an opportunity to build
friendships and connect with neighbors.
Letter
Dear Chichester Voters,
With a heavy heart, I
must tell you we have lost one of our most experienced, respected,
and loved selectman, Jeff Jordan.
Jeff had been a selectman
almost as long as I have lived in Chichester. I am now finishing up
my first full term as Selectman and I can’t tell you how much I have
learned from Jeff in this short time. Anyone who has served
with Jeff knows he didn’t say much, but when he did it was both
thoughtful and direct.
As a citizen I didn’t
always agree with Jeff and after one exchange he said, “Come
sit on this side of the table and you will see it isn’t so easy.”
I took this to heart and ran for selectman. He was right.
It isn’t easy but it is very rewarding.
One thing that has made
my term, as selectman so positive is that Jeff permeated a sense of
calm even when we had contentious public comments. Never did Jeff
raise his voice or get mad. He respected all our citizens and that
is a lesson I have taken to heart.
Another reason my
experience has been so positive is that Jeff didn’t let ego come
before the welfare of the town. I have had many disagreements with
Jeff and even if he personally didn’t agree with a position, if it
was in the best interest of the town, he would change his vote.
I can’t tell you how much I respected this. Many nights after a
meeting Jeff would say he loves serving this town and I know that my
experience with him will make me a better person as well as a better
Selectman.
I will miss Jeff very
much, and his legacy will live on with all the experience he has
given to me and to the all the citizens he has known. God couldn’t
ask for a better shepherd than Jeff.

Obituaries
Jeffrey Clay Jordan
Jeffrey Clay Jordan was
born on July 19th, 1952. He was a beloved husband, father, and
grandfather. Jeff was a lifelong farmer and sheep shearer,
going on to shear over 100,000 sheep throughout the northeast.
Jeff found a passion for fitness through bodybuilding and
powerlifting. In 1972 he graduated from UNH with a degree in
agriculture. In that same year, he placed 3rd in the Mr. New
Hampshire bodybuilding competition.
In 1974 he married
Deborah Grant. They were married for over 44 years and had
three children; Julie, Jeff, and Emily. They also have six
grandchildren who he dearly loved.
Jeff was a lifetime
resident of Chichester and served as a town selectmen and in other
capacities for over 23 years. He was also heavily involved in and
supportive of 4H and the New Hampshire Sheep and Wool Growers
Association.
Jeff was called home to
heaven on September 7th. He was an active member of the New
Beginnings Church of the Nazarene where his service was held on
September 15th.
Daddy, please catch us a
delicious bass in Heaven.
