Chichester Town Library News
This
afternoon (Wednesday, August 1st) at 3 p.m., there will be a
presentation of the classic “Treasure Island” by the Hampstead Stage
Company, as part of the Summer Reading Program. Their
presentation is for young, old and in-between and will be held at
the Grange/Town Hall, 54 Main Street. The play will be
followed by a “have it your way” ice cream sundae treat.
The
wrap-up for the Summer Reading Program will be next week, August
8th, starting at 5 p.m. The mascot for the Fisher Cats is
expected to kick the evening off. There will also be a showing
of the movie, “School House Rock” which, because of its PG rating,
requires an adult accompany the younger participants. A
scavenger hunt will be part of the festivities, too. Food, in
the form of pizza and lemonade, will help ensure everyone is fed.
Last, but not least, the final prizes will be awarded to those
completing the reading goals. And, who wouldn’t want a prize
from Frekey’s or Chuckster’s, our generous benefactors?
This
Saturday, August 4th, is the Down Under Book Sale, from 8 a.m.-1
p.m. Books will be featured that focus on pets and animals, as
well as those with stories of people’s lives, whether biographies or
autobiographies. The special half-price sale on vintage and
collectible books is not to be missed! In addition, a group
of National Geographic magazines, some dated back to 1918, are
available and will be sold at $5/dozen. Now, that’s a sale!
Monday, August 6th at 7 p.m. will be a meeting of the Down Cellar
Poets’ Workshop with facilitation by Jimmy Pappas.
The
September 8th Down Under Book Sale will include the annual Farmer’s
Market. This is a great opportunity for local
gardeners and entrepreneurs to highlight their goods e.g.,
vegetables, crafts, baked goods, syrup, candies, etc. There
will be no fee to vendors, who must provide their own table and
pop-up shelter, if desired. Maximum space per vendor is
10’X10’. Interested vendors are asked to contact the Library
Director, Caroline, at 798-5613 or

Our
family was pleased to see Chris Roundy’s announcement that he is a
candidate for the State Senate from District 17! Chichester,
Epsom, Northwood, and Pittsfield voters take note! Chris is a well
qualified candidate that will always keep his constituents at heart!
He will work hard to continue to make New Hampshire a safe,
affordable place to live! Vote Roundy!

Dear
Chichester Citizens:
At
the July 24th Selectmen Meeting a citizen gave me a good dose of
criticism. Public criticism is hard to swallow, but like
medicine it may taste awful, but it leads to better health.
The citizen was upset that a public hearing wasn’t noticed in The
Suncook Sun paper.
The
public hearing was legally noticed but the deadline for The Sun was
missed and, as such, wasn’t in that paper.
It
made me realize that many of our citizens may rely on The Suncook
Sun for this type of information. I’m glad this citizen had
the courage to speak his mind and let me know he was upset so we can
work towards improving our process for how public hearings get
publicly noticed. I want to encourage any citizen who feels
there can be improvements in how our town is being run to come to a
Selectmen’s meeting and speak up. Constructive criticism is
the best way to keep Government working for the people.

Obituaries
Evelyn J. (Hilliard) Boulet
CHICHESTER- On July 22, 2018, Evelyn (Hilliard)
Boulet, 54, was called home to God. She passed peacefully
after a long illness.
Born
in Laconia on September 5, 1963, she spent the first half of her
life living in the Pembroke/Allenstown area. She graduated
from Pembroke Academy in 1982 with High Honors and with her 2 year
old son in attendance.
She
went on to take vocational training courses and started working as a
word processor. She advanced to graphic design and desktop
publishing.
Evelyn was employed by Chubb Life America for over 15 years before
Jefferson Pilot bought Chubb, at which time her position was
eliminated. She then went on to Print Solutions.
She
is pre-deceased by her parents, Marilyn (Hilliard) Martineau and
Robert Hilliard; her son, Lorne R. Boulet, Jr.; brothers, Paul
Carlson and Noel Carlson; and sisters, Starr Carlson and Laura
Carlson.
She
is survived by her husband, Lorne R. Boulet, Sr.; sisters, Louise
Holmburg of Bristol, Robin Hilliard of Laconia, Arlene Woodward of
Hill, and Ruth Kimball of New Hampton; brothers, Robert Carlson of
Loudon and Daryl Carlson of Milton. She is also survived by
several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and a very
special great niece that called her “Nana”, Chloe Glodgett of
Concord, who was her Little Princess and brought great joy to her
life.
Calling Hours will be held in in the Petit-Roan Funeral Home 167
Main St. in Pembroke on Sunday, August 5th from 3 to 5 P.M. and
again on Monday August 6th at 9:30 A.M. followed by a Procession to
St. John the Baptist Cemetery in Allenstown, where her funeral will
be held graveside at 11 A.M, officiated by the Rev. John Fischer.
