Chichester Town Library News
Tomorrow, February 8th at
10:30 a.m. is the Pre-school Story and Craft “Hour.” Those of
you who have attended know how special this activity is. But,
for those of you who have not, I’d like to share a personal
experience.
I am aware that the
facilitator for this activity, Barbara Pappas, puts in endless time,
energy, and resources to provide a wonderful environment for the
little ones to hear stories, learn about the world, have fun with
crafts, and even have a snack.
The day I attended, the
theme was “Tracks.” The young ones were greeted by a volunteer
and her standard poodle, who came to share part of the time.
They then heard a story from Librarian Jackie Heath on pre-historic
animals and the importance of sharing. The kids then went outside
and followed the poodle’s tracks in the snow, coming back in to
listen to a story about a poodle posse and, again, the importance of
sharing. All of this was followed by poodle cookies, a
wonderful craft with cutouts and track stamping, as well as a
general playtime. It’s an awesome time!
Every Wednesday at 3:30
p.m., a crafty group of people join forces at the library for the
Knitting Circle. Come for the camaraderie and bring your handiwork
project.
There are still a few
days left to make a valentine, or more, for our veterans at the NH
Veterans’ Home. Your talents and efforts are welcomed.
Monday, February 12th at
2 p.m. is the Chichester-Epsom-Pittsfield Libraries’ Memory Café at
the Epsom Public Library. With a nod to Valentine’s Day,
participants will be playing some trivia games and celebrating
romance. Caregivers and folks living with memory loss are
invited to come and savor supportive socialization.
The Board of Trustees
will be meeting on February 12th at 4 p.m. Residents and
patrons of the library are welcome to attend and express any ideas
or concerns you may have.
