On Wednesday,
November 21, the Free Community Supper at the Chichester Methodist
Parish Hall will be a Thanksgiving Dinner. Come at 6 p.m. and enjoy
Thanksgiving with your friends and neighbors. This meal is free and
open to all. Donations are gratefully accepted to be used for the
cost of future suppers.
The Chichester Holiday
Food Basket Program for 2018 in cooperation with the Capital Region
Food Program is excited to provide a holiday meal and additional
food to help families over the holidays. The Chichester Food
Pantry will be accepting applications until Dec 1. The
Chichester contact for a basket is Evelyn Pike at 798-5808 ext. 1 or
stop by town hall.
Chichester Grange will be
holding a Penny Sale and Soup Lunch at the Grange/Town Hall on
Saturday, December 1, at 11 a.m. Numbers will be drawn
beginning at 12 noon. Purchase a lunch of homemade soup to enjoy
while waiting to see what you will be bringing home. The Penny Sale
is Christmas-themed but not limited to Christmas items.
REMINDER
The Chichester Police
Department has applications for assistance through the Santa’s
Helpers program at the station. They must be filled out completely
and turned in to the Chichester Police Department by December 19,
2018. You must be a Chichester resident. Unfortunately we have to
restrict it to children eighteen and younger. We try to fill the
“needs” category first and then things in the “want”

Once again the Chichester
Food Pantry will be handling the food baskets for Christmas, so
please contact the Town Hall.
Chichester Town Library News
This afternoon’s
(Wednesday) meeting of the Policy Committee has been cancelled and
replaced with a meeting of the Board of Trustees on the budget.
It is an open meeting, and anyone interested in the upcoming budget
for the library is welcome to attend. The meeting will start
at 4 p.m.
The Book Club meets
tonight at 7 p.m. Participants will be discussing their
personal choices of books for the past month. Next month’s
selection is The Emperor’s Guest: Coming of Age Behind Barbed Wire
During WW II in Indonesia, by Titia Bozuwato.
Tomorrow’s Story Hour
will be meeting at the Grange, where the Fire Department will be
displaying equipment and interacting with the younger set.
This is always a very popular program. Thanks to the Fire
Department for their participation!
We had a very productive
used book sale earlier this month. Thanks to all who came and
who donated. Also, a big thank you to Barbara Sinclair Pappas,
who sold prints and cards from her backyard nature series to help
fund the upcoming renovations in the children’s area of the main
library. These cards and prints will remain on display, and
for sale, for those who couldn’t attend the reception. We’d
also like to extend another huge thank you to the Currid family for
their grant that started this project.
Coffee and coloring
continues on Tuesday mornings at 10:30 a.m.
The adventures and
rescues of the Paw Patrol are also being featured on Tuesday
mornings at 10:30 for our younger kids, in a version of the new
Toddler Time program.
The library will be
closed from November 22-25th, so that staff may enjoy the
Thanksgiving holiday with family and friends.

The Melvin Jones Award is
presented to outstanding lions that make a significant contribution
to their community by the service projects that they
enthusiastically participate in. The Epsom-Chichester Lions have
chosen these members as exemplifying this standard.
The first lion jumped
right in accepting responsibility for becoming a terrific treasurer,
selling raffle tickets, our cashier at old home days,volunteering at
the race track, and assisting at Operation Kidsight screenings.
Despite an arthritic kneee she hung in there and did a great job at
whatever she volunteered to do. We are honored to recognize
Maddy Lamy with a well deserved Melvin Jones Award.
Our second lion has been
a long time volunteer. She has helped with every project we have
been involved in including Kidsight, race track screenings, chairman
of the Peace Poster contest, raffle sales, cashier and beverage
supervisor at old home days,and roadside pickup. She has a
been a loyal Lion volunteer and has exemplified the motto of service
of a lion. Sue Hoag has earned her Melvin Jones Award many
times over.
Our third Lion joined
despite having many other responsibilities. She works almost
full-time despite saying she is retired. Her first assignment that
she enthusiastically took on was to manage the scholarship program
and has done a great job with it. She fits in Operation
Kidsight program work at the schools when she can and does a great
job as well. Scooping french fries and chicken at old home days is
one of her jobs as well.She has served as vice-president for the
club and always manages to bring the greatest macaroni and cheese to
our dinner meetings. Nancy fraher is a great example of what a Lion
should be. She does “serve.”
Despite being very busy,
Maddy, Sue, and Nancy decided to become Lions.
We are inviting you to
become volunteers in service to your communities of Epsom and
chichester by joining the Epsom-Chichester Lions club. We meet
monthly at the Chichester Library on the first Thursday of the month
