Chichester Town Library
News
The library will be closed for Labor Day.
The collage of
pictures of Lisa created by the Teen Advisory Group for display at
Old Home Day can still be seen at the library. Also, index
cards for people to write down their memories of her will also be
available. There have been a number of people who were unable
to “say goodbye” to this remarkable woman and this project may help
in processing her departure, as well as helping others to know her
as they did. In the future, at a date to be determined, the
library will host an Open House, at which time memories of Lisa will
be shared.
The Poetry Group will meet on Monday, September 11th
at 7 p.m. because of the Labor Day holiday the previous Monday.
The Evening Book Club has chosen Uncommon Carriers by John
McPhee for their next read. As is McPhee’s style, this book is
also about real people in real places, as he focuses on truck
drivers, ships’ captains, towboat pilots, etc. The books are
available to be picked up now. Because of a change in schedule
for August, the September meeting has not, yet, been set.
The
Photography Club has compiled a spectacular set of photographs for
their calendar, looking at Chichester past and present. It
will sell for $20, with the proceeds to be donated to the Chichester
Food Pantry. If you want some great history of the Town, as
well as promoting good, this is an excellent chance to do it.
The library will have copies to sell, as well.
The Trustees and
members of the Lovers of the Chichester Library would like to thank
the vendors who came out for the Farmer’s Market in conjunction with
the August Down Under Book Sale, as well as our wonderful patrons.
We’d also like to thank and acknowledge Michael Edgecomb who has
authored the children’s book To Fly on a Cloud. He
participated in our sale and market by holding a book signing.
Thanks to all.
